Warning: Hunt this cache at your own risk.
| Park Fees: | | A Cedar Valley Nature Trail Permit is needed($12.00 annual or $3.00 per day per person). | This cache is on the Cedar Valley Nature Trail. The southern 26 miles (Linn and Benton couny) of the trail require a trail use permit for anyone 13 and over. The only exception is the free use days. Permit costs are $3 for single day and $12 for annual passes, they can be purchased at the locations listed here
This is a book themed cache, all trades should please be in the form of books (travelers also welcome). The books this cache started with are in the first log 1/31/04 log. If everyone would post what they took/left I will try to keep a list up dated(also in the logs). This cache started with, books, a 3*5logbook, and some CITO tubes so people can trash out on the way back.
In keeping with the traditional of caches along this area of the trail, you must stab yourself something thorny while retreiving this cache. While your out on the trail, head north less than a mile to the Icepak's North Edge cache.
NOTE: Those of you approaching this cache from far south may encounter trail closures. I inquired about the sections of trail that were close last summer (Boyson to County Home), and a gentlemen from linncountyparks.com told me, "The trail is currently open and will remain open until the asphalt company returns to complete their work. The last overlay is still needed on the section from Robins Road to County Home Road. This will be completed in the spring when temperatures are warm enough." and "Also planned for next year is an underpass at County Home Road and possibly one at Midway Road. We know that the County Road Department will be making some grade changes at the Midway Road intersection. We would like an underpass if the price isn't too much... but haven't been informed of the exact time yet."
There is a small parking lot where the trail crosses County Home Rd., though it seems to be reserved for equipement storage at the moment. The parking lot is at N42°05.69, W91°40.37, according to lostoutdoors.com. There are of course several other ways to access the trail.

Finally a chance to attempt this one again. Parked at the Midway Rd crossing hoping to avoid most of the people (and having to buy a trail pass). Got about half way to the cache and the trail police came by checking permits, oh well. They were more than happy to sell us a permit on the spot.
Got to the cache and left the trail unnoticed. Found the cache no problem (Im not sure how I missed it in Feb, even with the snow). Took "Alibis" by Robert DiChiara. Left "Numbered Account" by Christopher Reich and a "BSA Knots and how to tie them" by the Boy Scouts of America.
Thanks welch!

Great cache! We love books, so this cache was perfectly themed for us. Easy to find, but had to be a little covert due to bikers! Took The Villa, left The Bible.

Headed out intending to take advantage of the warm weather today. Didnt really work out that way. The weather wasnt all that warm. The wind didnt help. The snow on the trail was more like thick water and where the snow was gone the mud was ankle deep. Oh well we were out of the house...
We found the area easy enough (even some faint remains of someone's foot prints) but all of the hiding spots were packed with snow blown off of the field. Poked around for a while but the family was getting cold waiting up on the trail, so we moved on. Will try again after a bit more melt.
