Yosemite Lake 1
This is a seasonal cache. Once the spring thaw begins in the mountains, this cache will be nearly impossible to access. And with summer comes the local denizens. Once this place is packed with people, it will be nearly impossible to be discrete. So make this a late fall or winter cache. You can still get some nice views, but remind yourself to visit the lake in the summer for a nice afternoon picnic and possibly a boat ride.

We used to visit Lake Yosemite with some regularity while growing up. I know we had some picnics out here, but I don't remember ever going swimming as we had our own pool. It is possible to rent a boat if you'd like to go out on the lake though.

This cache begins a bit outside the lake at an intersection. From the starting point, you can either drive to the cache or bike/walk the path along Lake Road which leads directly into Lake Yosemite and passes right by the new UC campus that is currently being built out here. There is a street sign at the posted coordinates. One of the street names is Lake Road, mentioned previously. Use the other name to determine the next waypoint.

A = the number of letters in the other name (not counting "Road")
B = the alphabetical position of the first letter of that name
C = A - 1
D = B - 1
N 37° 22.1C0
W 120° 25.9CD

During the summer months, you may incur a nominal "per car" fee to enter the lake. It was $5 when I placed the cache. During the off season, the fee is waived. Another good reason not to hunt this cache during the peak summer months!

The cache coordinates can be calculated using the following clues from your current location at the second waypoint.

AB = the two digit number that can be found here
C = A
D = B
E = A + B
N 37° 22.37E
W 120° 25.4CD

This microcache is an altoids tin painted brown. There is no writing utensil, so bring one if you want to sign the cache. Keep in mind that the cache contents are small in case you want to trade. Welcome to Lake Yosemite!
