DATE: SATURDAY JUNE 1ST 2002 TIME: NOON TIL WHENEVER

This is a date and time for a Geocachers "Get-Together" meeting. If you would like to come please log this in the same manor as if you were logging a cache, but instead of as a "Find" log it as a "comment"

Due to a park mix-up we have been forced to change the location of our meeting picnic. The coordinates you see posted above are the new and correct coordinates that will take you to the new picnic location which is at the "Conifer" pavilion located on Log Cabin road within Durand Eastman park.
If anyone needs any driving directions please feel free to e-mail me and I will make sure you get there without any problems

This park is very beautiful no matter what time of year you decide to come. There is a playground near by for the kids, and trails just about everywhere you look.
Bring the fishing gear and mountain bikes if you so wish.

If you would like to see some old picture post cards of the area be sure to visit This Page Link

For a rating of this park you can visit This Page Link

For a great source of general park information about Durand, be sure to check out This Page Link

I look forward to seeing you all here and hope that the new location does not cause any confusion, if you know of others that intend on coming, please be sure to send them an e-mail to make certain they know of the new location.

MAKE YOUR PLANS NOW AND LOCK THE DATE! I AM CERTAIN YOU WILL HAVE A GREAT TIME.

How many geocachers does it take to find Hinge Thunders hide? We found this quite humorous, yet very challenged! We're in for the next picnic or campout sounds good too! Y'all are awesome!

The variety of food was great and meeting fellow cachers was awesome. The close by caches were fun too, even the one we missed. There wasn't a person around without a smile on their face, especially all the kids with the new NAVICACHE t-shirts. Thanks for the wonderful time Quinn and it was nice meeting everyone. Oh Man, What a time. I got the group photo printing out now on glossy. I printed a draft quality copy on regular paper just to mark it up as I counted the people. I found 71 grinning humans and 2 critters (without counting my hat). Wait a minute, I think I see the white sheet of paper on the post behind Quinn, which has Yardboy's wanted poster on it... That makes 73! I know there were a few that didn't make the photo shoot (Like Hinge Thunder who would have been shot if he'd been around). That means over 75 people attended this year and the rumor was that there were 25 last year. A triple - how about that.

I heard a lot of comment about doing another picnic this year around September. You can bet Road Kill is in.

Had a blast. Otter and Issaquah Puppy had fun too. Wished I could have been there the whole time, but that is how things work out sometimes. My being gone, probably made the people more obsessed, and look longer, and harder for the Lepracaun's Treasure. If I had been there, I am sure they would have come to me for hints much sooner, and ruined the hunt. It was interesting to be pretty much dragged down the to cache area, and forced to give clues. It was interesting playing hot/cold until someone found the cache. I thought it was hilarious when a couple of the guys found the cache amongst all the people, only to hide it again, and wander off. Various people cursing my name convinced that I pulled a dirty trick such as burying the cache, and not placing one at all. It was great, putting faces to the names.
I will be hard pressed to come up with a cache to compare with this one for next years GT, but I have some ideas! Evil nasty ideas! hehehe :)

Our very fine parks and recreation people in monroe county have sent me a letter along with my check for payment of pavilion within the seneca park for our picnic.

I was told they made a foul up and had already taken a reservation for the large pavilion before I had requested it. I told them I would take the other one but it also has since been booked for that date.
Thus I will have to change locations for our picnic for June 1st.

All 8 of the pavilions at Durand park are empty and available for that date. I will have to make a fast dash and arrange things by tomorrow so as to not give everyone a late notice. I will change this page and coordinates as soon as a location is set and locked again. If anyone wishes to tone up with another idea it will have to be quick.

The Hiker - Mac Salad and some chips.

Para2medix - Jalapeno mustard and mac salad.

Kite Wizard - Soda ( and beer is welcome)

Fourpack - Chips and other Goodies.

George W - Mystery Dish

DXChallenged - Bringing a dish too!.

Dekaner - Charcoal and paper plates.

Rippie - Beer, pop and some chips.

Roadkill - umm... Roadkill.

Caron- Buns and mac salad

This is a list of the things people said they could bring, it is not important that everyone bring something but more-so important that you have a good time!
If anyone wants to bring a potato salad or cold cuts or anything else they can think of then by all means feel free. Seems that we have the mac salad covered pretty good! =)

Based on the number of people that responded on both sites as well as e-mails I would say there will be roughly about 40 people and maybe more as this is based on cachers and kids.

So that you all know, there will be a news reporter doing a story on this for the Rochester D & C paper also.
So please feel free to bring what you want, and if you have ideas that I missed then just post them here. I am looking forward to seeing you all!

As for the motor home, I know you cant keep it over night in the park but you should have no problem bringing it. I'll have to look around and see where you can park afterwards but I think we can come up with something.

I will also be hiding a brand new Magellan GPSR to be given away at the picnic.

Balloonpilot & chickenlips will be there, probably with at least the daughter in tow. Theres so many people that we're looking forward to meeting. We will bring side dishes too, but not too sure what they will be yet!!

I plan on being there. It will be nice to hang out with some real GPS fools for a day. Thinking i`ll bring some of my famous three bean salad or cheese bread, who knows maybe both. Thinking maybe Road Kill could help The Mighty Quinn out in the meat category. He`s got squirrel, chimpmunk, rabbit, and beaver in that hat of his alone. Personally i`d like a little rattlesnake. Who knows maybe old Rattlesnake Pete will show up.

We'll try to come at some point to meet some of the folks whose names we've been seeing on the cache reports. Unfortunately June 1 is National Trails Day and we will almost certainly be working on some trail project for a good bit of the day. Any chance of moving it to Sunday
June 2??

Roadkill informed this am of the upcoming cachers meeting
on 6/1/02 at Seneca Park. You can count us in with our
trusty GPS, compass, experience and knowledge and hope this
has a huge turnout so we can meet the people who's names
we only see entered on the finds. See ya Gamma/Coyote

Count me in and rest assured (Foo) the hat will be there too. I can't wait to meet all the new cachers and those who missed last years event. Pavilion "Eagle"? H'mmm somehow I was expecting "Turkey Vulture". Hee Hee

Count us in! 5 definately and maybe a 6th...do dogs count? Might bring Foo the Wonder dog. It's just that she looks like a close cousin to Roadkills headgear. Which will either make her an attack pom or psycho pom.

If I am in town I'll be there, I'm guessing my travels will take me about a month and a half, but last time I figured a month it took a month and a half, so it will be close. If I'm in any state near there you gotta bet I'll hit it, I may even come out before making it back home.... ohh yeah nothing better then someone whose been living out of his truck for months, look out ladies.
