Latin: where four ways meet. Locate a simple cross road which is associated with four different street names. The simplest, a quadrivia of the first kind, occurs when each street changes its name at the intersection. In Cincinnati Ohio, a quadrivia is formed by the intersections of Jefferson Street, William Howard Taft Road, Vine Street, and Calhoun Street, found at N 39 07.679, W 084 30.670. The coordinates are in the center of the intersection, calculated by averaging the coordinates of two diagonal corners. This is a busy place.

A quadrivia of the second kind involves a street split down the middle which has two names, and the cross streets changing names as well. This curious situation exists locally because Cincinnati and Norwood could not agree on a boundary street name. Cincinnati calls its half Rhode Island Avenue and Norwood calls its Section Road. At two intersections a quadrivia of the second kind occurs: Wayne in Norwood becomes Berkeley (N 39 10.319 W 084 27.560) and Worth in Norwood becomes Northcut in Cincinnati (N 39 10.435 W 084 27.552). Since it's theoretically possible that both the cross streets could have split names, such an intersection would also count. Cincinnati offers none.

Your task - find quadrivia. The roads must cross with at most a small jog, and be at the same elevation. Five or more street intersections do not count.

To document your find of quadrivia, a picture of the four different street names are required, but your GPS receiver need not be shown.

Not only did I find a Quadriva, but I found 2 on adjacent blocks. The first is at 17th Street, Court Place, Broadway and East 17th Avenue (N39 44.597, W104 59.241). The second is at 18th Street, Tremont Place, Broadway and East 18th avenue (N39 44.695, W104 59.238). Thanks oreophile. Thanks Navicache.

The Cachew Knutz particularly like this quadrivia because it is right beside the CSX main line at Dahlgren Junction and the Cachew Knutz are also Railroad Knutz (www.coord.info/GC2PP3K).

The picture included with this log was taken standing beside Deacon Road. As you can see from the sign in the picture, it intersects with Cool Spring, Butler and White Oak Roads; the intersection is at N3818.870' W07726.815'.

Going right onto Butler Road will take you over the CSX main line. Continuing straight through the intersection onto Cool Spring Road takes you over the current spur that was formally the military railroad called the Dahlgren Railroad. Turning left onto White Oak Road takes you through White Oak where the road name changes again to Caldeon Road, takes you past the Caledon state park and over the former Dahlgren Railroad where our RR Knutz: Dahlgren cache is hidden (www.coord.ch/OU039A).

3219 / 32. I'd found the last Cache Across Maryland 2012 cache I needed, so headed toward Hanover, PA to find the Wildasin Meeting House mult-cache. As I was driving along some of the country roads, I noticed a number of four-way intersections with THREE street names and kept hoping I'd find a Quadrivia. Before long, I ended up stopping at this intersection in Glen Rock, PA. Of course, I pulled over and got picks and coords.

I hope this counts. The Twin Cities is full of odd intersections. I had a couple in mind when I read about this cache, but I think this intersection is the best candidate. Here, three streets intersect and one of them changes names at the intersection. So the street names that intersect are Central Ave, E Hennepin Ave, SE 5th St., and NE 5th St. As you can probably tell from the pictures, it's a busy intersection. Visited here on a gloomy morning before work. Thanks for the locationless cache!

I've been looking for about 3 years for a suitable location, and finally found it.

We visited the corner of SW 60 (south), Park (west), Davis (east), and Ireland (north).
