We located this traditional cache at an extraordinary spot - at Phanom Rung, which is a really superb example of Khmer architecture. The sanctuary is perched on top of an extinct volcano nearly 400 meters above sea level. Built between the 10th and 13th centuries, Phanom Rung actually predates Angkor Wat (Cambodia). It has a spectacular promenade leading up to it, which evokes images of Angkor Wat itself. This pinkish sandstone sanctuary was a shrine of a Hindu sect with Shiva as the ruling god. The park is accessible daily from 06:00 am – 06:00 pm. The entrance fee is 40 Baht.
Recommendation: a trip to Phanom Rung can be combined perfectly with a visit at the near Prasat Hin Muang Tam. Also a marvelous site to go, having a brick structure with 5 pagodas, surrounded by laterite ponds. This traditional cache consists of a yellow plastic box about 5x8x3 cm, which is wrapped in a plastic bag. Please also note: this cache is not placed at the ground, but in a height of about 1 meter! The original content is: 3 pencils, 1 with a rubber 1 “bear-rubber” 1 5-cent-coin from Spain 1 20-cent-coin from Germany 1 key chain from the Kao Yai National Park, Thailand 1 geocaching description Enjoy your stay at this impressive spot and happy hunting to everybody!
