Nighttime caching experience in northern NJ.
Inspired by Night Vision (by Marty621) - this is my first foray into placing a cache that is findable at night. Daytime seekers may be lucky, but for the full experience - seek this cache after dark! The trouble with a cache of this type is that you want enough privacy to use a flashlight without having to worry about explaining geocaching to the authorities. That said, once you make it to the cache site - you'll be unfettered by nosy neighbors. Getting there, however, is half the fun! This place can be creepy in the daytime - at night...well, you be the judge. Head to the location specified after dark - I'd recommend staying to the main trails/roadway for the easiest approach (bushwacking isn't recommended until you reach GZ). Once there - shine your light in a 360 degree sweep to spot the reflectorized trail. Be forewarned - there are decoy reflectors nearby - but only the trail will lead you to the cache. So make sure to follow the path to locate the prize - if you seem to have reached a dead end - turn around and try again. While it can be a wet area (as seekers of the nearby "Unfinished Business" cache can attest to), this cache can be found without getting your sneakers wet (so if you're swimming or using a canoe - you're in the wrong spot!). At the final location - look for the three closely spaced reflectors and find the cache within a foot. Cache is an ammo container and can be reached without getting your feet wet! This cache is kid friendly. At no time should you feel unsafe while seeking this cache - it's a relatively easy find and should hopefully provide some laughs (as well as some goosbumps!). If you use the parking clue - please just park and follow the path into the woods without much fuss. Parking hint is in a quiet residential dead-end so please be discrete. Once you're in the woods - you can hoot and holler to your hearts content! Enjoy! CrossPosted from WWW.GEOCACHING.COM |

Open Log: Non-commercial use only Found back in May with a bunch of other geocachers. It was fun, the postcaching beer was good too.

Open Log: Personal use only I could not make it to the 5:30pm attempt at Unfinished Business so I decided to shoot for 8pm at Night Sweats. Had dinner before I got here but was still a little early. So I met up with the 4 who had completed Unfinished Business at the end of the street where the trailhead was. Then more and more geocachers came by until there were about a dozen of us. And a few more got there later. What a rush. There were lots of decoys so it was pretty much a random walk to get to all the markers. I think we stomped that mud patch pretty well. Anyway, as I always say, 'It's not how you find the cache. It's who you find it with.' And so dhenning found the cache and I found him. Then we logged in, replaced the cache quietly and snuck off to the side and out of there so that others may search. Heheh. Anyway, thanks for the night adventure.
