Easy (but stealthy) 2-stage Micro Cache in Penn Valley Park

Dusty Cache #3 - Guardian of the Steppes

Placed With Approval by Kansas City, Missouri, Department of Parks, Boulevards, and Recreation.

The is an easy Micro-cache for any weather, unless the snow gets over two feet deep. No rooting around the ground, rocks, or vegetation. When you get to the final step it will be obvious where the cache is. The challenge is getting the cache, signing the logbook, and replacing the cache in exactly the same place without being seen by the various other visitors to the park. Bring your own Pen!

You can walk or drive between the two stages,
but I would stay out of the woods because of some makeshift "camps".
The area might seem a bit spooky, but it appears to be quite safe. No one will bother you.
Parking for step two is along the West side of the park, near the Northwest Corner. Daytime-Only cache.

Feel free to CITO or any other activity to make Geocaching welcome in KC Parks.
If this cache is successful, I anticipate doing a couple of regular caches in nicer parks with the advice of the
KCMO Parks department management.

Step Number One
The initial coordinates for this cache bring you to this Firefighters' Fountain. There is a parking lot on the West side. Closed after dark.

Behind the Fountain is the memorial.
There are several of these slabs around the memorial. Take time to peruse these heros' names and dates.

Look for John L. Beatty 01-06-19xx and Michael C. Joy 11-07-19yy,
then use the date xx and yy to determine the coordinates for the next step.

Step Number Two
The Guardian of the Steppes
Find the micro-cache with a miniature log book. Sign and replace the book in the baggie and then into the cache. The logbook is not waterproof and neither is the container. Please, no trade goods. Bring your own Pen!

If you can't find the cache, resist the temptation to drown your sorrows:

Nice multi this one. First stage to a place of civic importance. Second stage just a bit of a physical challenge. Monkey #2 liked it and made the find.

Easy find, if you can avoid being hustled by the homosexuals that park around here.
