Similar to the Cow Parade project (where decorated life-sized cow sculptures were placed on public display throughout various worldwide locations) Miles of Mules, is a public arts project where more than 150 decorated, life-sized fiberglass mules will be found roaming through five Pennsylvania Counties (in the vicinity of the Delaware & Lehigh Canals)
The Delaware & Lehigh Canals run through the Pennsylvania counties of Bucks, Northampton, Lehigh, Carbon and Luzerne. It was here that anthracite coal was discovered, canals were built and iron was first poured. In the 19th Century mules played an important role in the regions growth by pulling mine cars and towing the canal boats/barges that transported the coal to the markets in New York and Philadelphia. Although this industry no longer exists the mule remains a symbol of this unique heritage.
The objective of this cache is to locate as many of the Miles Of Mules sculptures that are scattered through the Pennsylvanian counties.
The co-ordinates provided will lead you to "The Chairman Of The Barge", but he is not the only mule in the area.
To log a "find" you can either locate the "Chairman" or provide the co-ordinates for another of these creatures.
It would be appreciated if your logs would give a brief description of the mule so that if anyone else wishes to search for it, they can follow your footsteps.
As several of the Mules have either been auctioned, moved or stolen I have decided to expand this cache. A FIND can now be ANY EXAMPLE of this type of public art project.
