Since I posted this cache, several geocachers have come forth with additional information about the story behind this marker. Here's what I found out (thanks to Dweezil):

The victim, a Bennington taxi driver, was murdered along Route 7 near the Stone School House. His murderers were not caught until 1936. A Mr. Pencus and a Mr. Franco were arrested, convicted and sentenced. Miss Mark was also arrested and charged. She turned state evidence and was not prosecuted.

A car cache. I found this interesting marker while making a "pit stop" on the way back from a Vt. ski trip. E-mail me the inscription on the marker for credit (please don't put it in your log entry, even if encrypted).

For safety's sake, don't park on the shoulder. There is a parking area a few hundred yards to the west of the cache site, on the opposite side of the road. The "cache" is NOT the nearby white cross.

Found this one okay but it was quite overgrown with weeds. Certainly never would have known about it if not for it being pointed out as a cache. Thanks!!!

The weeds are starting to obscure the marker but WaldenBro and I tracked it down. I'll try and post a non-spoiler photo. The important details are being emailed to the cache owner as additional verification. How did you happen to notice this?
