UK:Cache in the middle of the Oirschotse Heide (sand/moor/forest)
NL:Cache midden in de Oirschotse Heide (zand/heide/bos-gebied) English: The geocache ‘Muizebeest’ is located in the middle of the Oirschotse Heide. This is a militairy terrain, open to visit, at your own risc, from sunrise to sunset. Take good shoes with you, since there is a lot of sand (and mud when there was heavy rain). Please stay on the tracks. The cache is located 10 meters from a dirt-track. The Oirschotse Heide is an ideal area to enjoy sand/moors/airplanes, but also very nice for flying kites.There are plenty of tracks through the sand/forrest. In spite of the sometimes very big tracks, it is a nice and calm place. Also in the weekend it is a nice quit place, much more quit compared to e.g. the Strabrechtse Heide. Parking: At the north of the Oirschotse Heide there are two official parking areas at the Eindhovensedijk: N51°29.198’ E5°21.117’ en N51°29.072’ E5°21.436’ Warning: the viaduct of the Eindhovensedijk over the A58 (N51°29.566’ E5°20.194’) is due to replacement-work closed until mid-November 2003. During this period, these parking places can only be reached out of the south-east, along army base Oirschot (take e.g. A58, exit 7-Best, of A2, exit 29- Eindhoven Airport) At the south of the Oirschotse Heide it is possible to park next to the Wintelresedijk. An useful (but not official) parking place is e.g. N51°28.675’ E5°19.603’ Nederlands: De geocache ‘Muizebeest’ ligt midden in de Oirschotse Heide. Dit is een militair oefenterrein, hetgeen “voor toegang op eigen risico van zonsopgang tot zonsondergang is opengesteld.” Zorg voor stevige schoenen, aangezien er veel zand (en na hevige regenval modder) ligt. Blijf a.u.b. op de wegen en paden. De cache ligt circa 10 meter vanaf een zandpad verwijderd. De Oirschotse Heide is een ideaal gebied om te genieten van zand/heide/vliegtuigjes, maar ook prima geschikt om b.v. te vliegeren. Er zijn volop paden door het zand, heide en het bos. Ondanks de soms brede zandpaden (tank-sporen) is het er vaak wel heel erg rustig en zijn er voldoende verrassende plekjes te vinden. In het weekend is het er in ieder geval vééél rustiger dan op b.v. de Strabrechtse Heide. Inhoud van de cache (in vuilniszak verstopte ronde metalen doos met een diameter van 22cm) bij plaatsing op 18/10/03: Logboek, pen, potlood, handleiding (niet verwijderen aub) Hangslot Pritt stift Post It blok (blauw) Post It blok (roze) Koelkastmagneet 2 (veilige) stickers Hi Tech armband Etona nietmachine TV/VCR afstandsbediening (excl. batterijen) Macropolis boomerang (ideaal op de zandvlakte…) 3COM Etherlink III netwerkkaart (voor de liefhebbers) plastic everzwijn (uit Dolech's Stash) Parkeren: Aan de noordzijde van de Oirschotse Heide zijn twee geschikte officiële parkeerplaatsen aan de Eindhovensedijk: N51°29.198’ E5°21.117’ en N51°29.072’ E5°21.436’ Let op: het viaduct van de Eindhovensedijk over de A58 (N51°29.566’ E5°20.194’) is wegens vervangingswerkzaamheden afgesloten t/m medio november 2003. Deze parkeerplaatsen zijn gedurende deze afsluiting enkel via het zuidoosten langs legerplaats Oirschot te bereiken (neem b.v. A58, afslag 7-Best, of A2, afslag 29- Eindhoven Airport) (negeer de borden 'niet inrijden' ter hoogte van de legerplaats) Aan de zuidzijde van de Oirschotse Heide bestaat de mogelijkheid om langs de Wintelresedijk te parkeren. Een geschikte (maar niet officiële) parkeerplaats is b.v. N51°28.675’ E5°19.603’ |

Very interesting enviorment !!! The cache itself is in a not so good condition : damaged plastic bag, wet etc., but the logbook is ok. I'm sorry but I had no new bag with me and the military around me set me under pressure .
