Comments:

I believe I saw plants of the poisonous variety down by the creek. I don't believe there any which block access to the cache, but it is difficult to be certain in the winter. Those travelling with children should take appropriate precautions. The park is open from 8 am until a half hour after sunset. Dogs must be leashed.

Another San José city park cache.

This area has been opened recently to the public as a park, and aside from the Vietnamese Cultural Garden, it appears to be relatively undeveloped.

Because of heavy tree cover, allow for ±0.003 variance on the cache coordinates. I've raised the cache to moderate to account for the uncertainty.

The cache container is a smallish brightly colored Rolé Guacamole box. The initial contents included:

  • Eiffel Tower paperweight

  • Three lucky red New Year's envelopes with money

  • Puerto Vallarta sand bottle souvenir (missing sand)

  • Garfield Crazy Eights card game

  • Votive candle

  • Blue purple auto touchup paint

  • Usenix pin

  • logbook, Geocaching readme, and pencils

Need to be poison oak aware for this one. Also, not a good cache to do in sandals - the weeds were jumping into my socks. TNLN - thanks.

Not much of a trek, but a bit of a puzzle to figure out how to get there since I parked on the southwest side of the park. I was a bit daunted at first about crossing the creek, but after trudging along and down the banks for a while, I found a crossable, stable, six-inch tree trunk that had fallen across. When it originally fell, it rerooted itself, so it continue to grow. A couple offspring braches grew straight up from the fallen trunk, providing excellent handholds for the journey across. Up the other bank, following the vehicle tracks, soon I reached the general area and found the cache.

Very nicely hidden cache! We took more than one wrong turn on the way to this cache, but did manage to get there a few minutes after sunset. I won't give away any hints, but I will say that although our shoes got muddy, they didn't get wet. Took a red envelope with a dollar coin inside and left a sealed tin of Cinnamon Altoids. Great cache, we enjoyed the adventure!

Hey, nice new park area you found! Several people I
talked to didn't know of its existance yet. And we
almost missed it too... We got to the site just as
the rangers were announcing the park was closing,
but bagged the cache before making a run for the
gate. I took the Garfield Crazy 8's game and left
a spiral 'fidget' toy I found in the Bair Island
cache. Thanks for the fun cache!
