Welcome to the first geocache of the Austin Classics Series. This series seeks to recreate some of the classic caches from the early days of Austin, Texas geocaching history.
ACS#1: Austin Challenge is a long multi-cache through the hills and greenbelts of West Austin and the surrounding Hill Country in the flavor and basic format of the original Austin Challenge by roxbob. As with most multi-caches, as you locate each stage of the cache you will receive the coordinates for the next stage until, at last, you reach the final cache location. The terrain and difficulty ratings were determined based on the total amount of hiking and bushwacking involved and the puzzling nature of the final instructions that provide the coordinates of the final cache. The container is a five gallon pail from Home Depot and it is full of goodies. The FTF prize was an Olympus OM-2 SLR camera with 55mm lens and a flash unit! Congratulations to WhiteShark! There are several other electronic items and several t-shirts plus plenty of other odds and ends. Please trade even or trade up or don't trade at all! Please do not mention the number of stages in your logs. Not knowing how long this multi-cache runs is part of the fun! This cache was placed by a member of the Texas Geocaching Association. |
