This microcache is located in Portsmouth City Park. Potentially handicapped-accessible (terrain is not too rough). Relatively easy find if you think like a cacher.
Portsmouth City Park is a nice urban park with lots of activities. There is a boat ramp, playgrounds, picnic tables, tennis, golf course, bike paths, duck-feeding and a lovely view of the Elizabeth River. However, the most popular attraction is the Pokey Smokey train ride for the kids. It's a coal-fired mini train that has been a fixture there for years. It runs April-October. More info can be found here. The cache is a white vitamin bottle. Inside is a small rolled up logbook with a little pencil. Also a wheresgeorge.com $1 bill. Not too much room to trade - maybe some really small items like coins. Please keep the rubber band around the log book and in the plastic bag so that the next person doesn't have trouble pulling it out of the bottle. Also place the cache back EXACTLY as you found it. Make sure it is not visible before you leave. May require some stealthy moves depending on how many people are feeding ducks! |

Could not find it! Sat down and let my GPS settle down, thought like a Cacher and decided that this should be the ONLY possible place it could be. I reached in with a long stick first, and then tried with my arm. I suspect either a kid pilferred it or a squirrel might have made off with it. A lot can happen to a cache that no one has reported finding with 2002.

Nice park and we had nice weather to enjoy it in. We took our brother and sister-in-law to find it.

Just catching up with our Navicache entries! We finally scored a real first to find! We had to start out early in the morning though to get it. Nice park, took a walk around and enjoyed the early morning. Thanks for a nice cache!
