From where I park, it is about 3.5 miles and 620 vertical feet to the cache. The trail starts out as a dirt road, but ends up as an overgrown footpath, and you have to scramble up some rocks when you get to the cache.
The cache is an ammo box covered with rocks. There isn't a lot of kid stuff in the cache, but you probably want to leave the kids at home on this one anyway. Don't worry if you find yourself walking away from the cache as you try to get to it. The clues include trailhead information. There may be other approaches that are easier/harder. If you find another way in, let me know. It is really too hot a hike to wear long pants, but the trail is too overgrown for short pants, so ... pick your poison. Watch out for snakes. (Especially when you are at the cache location) I didn't see any today, but you know that they are out there. When you are there, sit back and relax. It is a great view of the 'sky. Enjoy! |

It sounds like the last bit before the cache is more trouble than I expected. I'll be moving the cache to a new location in the area (a bit less far afield), but it may take me a while to get to it. In the mean time, I'll leave the cache active in case anyone wants to seek it where it is.

I think I would have described the hike as follows: "The trail starts out as a dirt road, but ends up as an overgrown footpath, and then just ends!" Much of the last 400 feet is primarily bushwhacking.
