OldMan's Cache is located deep within First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach. If you enjoy nature and hiking this is the park of choice in this part of Virginia. While there are several ways into the park, which you take I will leave up to you. I personally prefer the Shore Drive entrance as it allows for more sights along the way.

So if they like the outdoors and don't mind the hike

Bring them along, but don't bring the bike

There may be a hill, there may even be two

It can be easy or hard, it's all up to you.

So take a few hours and head for the park

But try to leave early, don't get caught after dark

There's several things in there, take one or take two

But put back as many, so others can to

And when you have found it, I'm sure you'll agree

Just how much fun, this all can be

One last thing to remember, although it is hid

Is that the clue you are reading, rhymes with the lid.

Enjoy !! and bring the camera (I forgot to leave one)

And please sign the "LOG" book.

I'm new to GeoCaching and this was my second cache. My brother in Germany introduced me to it. We, well he found the first one at Baden-Württemberg, and since it contained a Travel-Bug he asked me to bring it back to the US. Well, here it is now finally at the "Old Mans Cache". I hope somebody finds it, to continue it's journey around the globe. I did my share... :o). Sorry that it took so long, had it since May of 2008. If you're interested, go to http://www.geocaching.com and use this number TBQ2PY to track it. There you can see how many miles this Travel-Bug has done.

Sorry you had so much trouble finding the cache. Cache is already at top of hill so sounds like it may still be in the original location. Have not been out to check yet this year, but sounds like some maintenance is in order. Will try to get out there ASAP.

Found this cache after searching 200 ft away from description location. Found all clues but the cache has been moved to higher ground and one of the logs has almost completely rotted away. Blue lid stands out in woods. Cache is in poor condition. Log book is wet and moldy. Pens do not write. We left 3 new items and took nothing. Make sure you get a map of the park before taking to this venture. It will help you when trying to locate this cache. Wonderful day in the woods with my 10 year old and 3 year old. This was our first exposure to geocaching. Hope to do many more. Thanks!!

Our first excursion! We forded swamps and risked poison ivy, received scratches from several pricker patches which was all unnecessary. This trip had everything...right when we were most disheartened we picked up the scent that lead us to the booty. The cache needs some TLC, and the log book was illegible. That didn't stop us from leaving a little something though.

Had a half inch of water in bottom. Dumped out water and let air out awhile as I filled out log. LEFT Nemo friend fish, TOOK Tonka bulldozer. Put everything back in container and put duct tape around lid seam. Did not find it the regular way. I took a direct route from GC199. It was VERY challenging to go that way and I wouldn't recommend it for the faint of heart or someone not in reasonable physical shape. Also, I had to use my compass almost as much as the GPS because of the tree cover.

Moved to new tupperware container this summer, but just received message and apparently the contents were all wet. Will try to make it out this weekend to replenish and move to ammo can for better weather resistance.

Had to put the bike away and hike it. GPS went nuts in the vicinity of the cache. GPS showed multiple locations depending on what direction I faced. Even backing off and trying to cross fix didn't work too well. Did an expanding square search and found the cache after about 5 minutes.

Cache is in good shape. Took poncho and left CPO pin. Very worthwhile.

Found while doing the volksmarsch. I was walking with a friend when the clues, offical and log spoilers (on the big site), came together. I went right to the cache from the trail.

Traded a tonka toy for a keychain. Took a travel bug that had been MIA for over 9 months. Bob, the fellow I was walking with, grabbed a "Cache In, Trash Out" bag that we put to use. Not only did some old papers (info sheets for long gone TBs) and the blob formerly known as crayons find their way out, an anti-freeze (yes, really) bottle that was sitting further along the trail (a mile plus from the nearest road) was among the yuckies that left the park.

The cache was a little damp. Except for the info sheet, everything was either protected in a ziploc or not subject to water problems. I'm not sure why someone would decline to put the info sheet in plastic with the log book.

Nice cache. Thanks for the fun.

Came here from High and Dry. Found with little trouble. Contents were pretty damp - paper items were starting to get a little moldy (please tell me why someone would leave only 3 playing cards???).

We took the tire gauge and left a CD-Rom game.

Greetings from New Jersey. Found this one after finding High and Dry from the www.geocaching.com website. Since this cache is dual-listed, I'm logging it here too. It wasn't too hard to find but I took a less than straightforward route. However, that approach did allow me to spot the cache from some distance away.

I'm First! A great cache in a great park. I used to run in this park all the time when I lived nearby, so it was like a trip back in time for me, visiting this cache. I parked at 64th Street and ran in and back out, taking 52 minutes total. If you take it slowly and leisurely, it still shouldn't take more than two hours, tops. I'd actually rate it a 1/1 for difficulty/terrain. I left a dinosaur which has accompanied me on numerous journeys over the past year (he's tired of me, and ready to spend some time travelling with someone else) and a Where's George dollar bill (http:/www.wheresgeorge.com) and took a package of AA batteries for the GPS.
