We have not implemented maps outside of the U.S.A. ... YET!

A beautiful area very characteristic of our part of the world. The Dakota Ridge at an elevation of about 2700 ft overlooks the ocean vista's of our pacific coast line and forested wonderland.

The trip to bury our cache was wet, cold and absolutely fantastic. The snow at 2500 ft was over 1.5 meters deep. Our snow shoes barely did the job. It was raining hard so we were soaking wet, but the Port wine took the edge off. You will need a 4x4 (chains are a good idea as well) to get to the first parking lot if you go during the winter months, snow shoes are essential (or skiis) and a chain saw is a good idea as well. We had to cut through a large tree that fell across the road and we waited for more than one truck to turn around as the going got too tough for lesser vehicles.

Follow the signs from the first parking lot to Dakota Ridge, it is well marked so should pose no problems. In summer it is an easy drive all the way to the second parking lot but you should be aware that there are bears and other wildlife in the area. Ask a local outfitter for advice.

The Cache is not quite at the ridge, but is definitly on the way. We were forced to turn back as the going was just too much. It is in a great spot though just off the trail not too hard to spot, just hard enough. The GPS was having a hard time as we were so socked in by heavy clouds.

This area is slowly but surely turning into what I hope will be one of the nicest hiking and cross country ski facilities in the area and should prove a worth while treasure hunt.
