This cache is located in Oatka Creek Park in the town of Wheatland, near Scottsville, NY. It’s in a very pleasant openly wooded area near Oatka Creek, and the name is a result of our seeing no less than eight white-tail deer in the cache area as we walked in on a beautiful late November day. The cache is a gray .30 cal ammo can with green lettering and is placed about fifty feet off an open but not well defined trail through the woods; it’s concealed but is visible from a limited area. It may be difficult to find with snow cover in the winter. The cache contains some Matchbox cars, some Keokuk geodes (mineral specimens), Red Rose Tea ceramic figures, some gadgets and toys, and, of course, a log book to note your find. Please note, some possible shortcuts to the cache would cross private property, so please follow the trails within the park.

This was one of the best hides in the park. It took me a couple of minutes to locate this one due to snow cover on the ground. I took nothing from the cache box and I signed the logbook. Thanks for the nice cache! This area is so interesting and I enjoyed exploring it. -Paleoman52-

Today was Find One You Missed Day for me and Team Dirtdog!

Wow, what a warm and muggy day this was. We were covered with sludge from an earlier cache, but headed over to this one to see if we could keep our success string intact. Plenty of fishermen and snakes were out enjoying the lovely summerlike weather, and we enjoyed the day even more when Rocket extended his Sniffing Streak to two successive caches! Now, last time were were here, we searched all over this same spot. Why did we not find it then? Were we blind or just oblivious? Hmmmm.....

Anyway, I took the ice scraper because its placement in the cache apparently violated physical laws (sucker wouldn't fit back in the box) and left something smaller and less improbable. The cache is in good shape and yes, the log book is sealed in its baggie. Thanks for a lovely walk and a feel-good find!

This was the second of three finds for myself and Junglehair, for the day. What a very nicely maintained county park!
We stayed on the trails all the way around the park, and only bushwacked the last hundred or so feet to each cache.

We found the bridge over the creek on the way to this one, so we stepped out to take a look. Very interesting that there used to be a road running thru here...

Unfortunately, we didnt see any deer...:(
This one was nicely hidden, even though Junglehair huckle-buckled me on it. :)

Thanx for the nice hide!

I found this one just as it was getting dark. I got lucky when I saw it since this was so well hidden.

It looked like I just missed the GPS Hikers again. They signed two log books just before me today.

Took nothing, left gloves.

1st of 4 finds today. 9:30 A.M. I felt like I was in a maze when I left the main trail onto a deer path. Vegitation was head high and almost closed off the path. Then it broke out into a nice path in the open woods. Some weed or flower must have been in bloom because the woods smelled just like a perfume store. Sats. were bouncing a bit and got me to 50 feet when I spotted it. But as I logged in, they setteled down to 4 feet. Took/left nothing. Thanks for the hide. Now onto I Heard It On The Grapevine.

Found at 1:15 PM, Memorial Day, 75 °F. A good hike, very pleasant day. This one could be tricky since the path circles around, but we stayed on the trail as close to the coordinates as possible. There were lots of potential hiding places, many of which we searched. Happened upon the cache by accident. Didn't get great satellite coverage with the trees, and I have an E-trex... Took a matchbox car and left a jacks game. Thanks for a good hike.

Hey! This was the first of 3 caches that we did today. Yesterday I was pampered and beautified at a mother daughter retreat. As I drove home from there I thought to myself that the only thing that could make today better would be to go geocaching and that was what we did. This was a very nice walk in. The sun was shinning enough so that the the tops of the leaf carpet were dry. Such great knarly trees! Eversure found one that was laying horizontally and hollowed inside thought that it would be a great cache box place.... Interesting land formations. And wonderfull shadows that were created between the limbs that blocks the sun. Eversure sure zoomed in the minute that Fearless told him that the cache was within 50feet. He found it momentarily...GREAT SPOT... We took a Where's George bill to trade at a cache that we're planning to visit and a glostick. We left a wire puzzle and a Dragon. BTW it was 48 when we did this walk. Not bad for Feb. in WNY!

Another fantastic spot, Barrington. Got to the area early New Years day, & had the whole place to myself. No problems getting to the cache spot. Nice trails.Got some great pictures of Oatka Creek with the snowy woods as a backdrop. Also saw plenty of deer, but they wouldn't pose for any pics.:-) Cache is in great shape. Took a matchbox truck & left a pair of handwarmers & 2 wheresgeorge bills. Again, my gps had me at about 7 ft. when at the cache. Left my mark in the log book & replaced the cache in the same great location I found it. Thanks again for starting my year off in style.--Gimpy--

We had beautiful fresh snow as we started our quest for your cache. We could tell from the tracks in the snow that some snow cross-country skiers were just ahead. We turned off and the secondary trail to the cache area. Once there the several good hiding spots and snow cover made this the toughest find of the 4 we did today. Thank you, enjoyed the winter caching very much.

I found this Cache around 3:30pm on this fine and warm saturday afternoon. The sun was just starting to go down while I was at the posted Coordinates. I kicked up two doe just a matter of feet from where my truck was parked.
Anyways...it's hard to believe there is so many areas within this same park. trail after trail that all lead to somewhere different. The walk was great and much to look at on the way in. I could hear shotgun blasts across the street where hunting is allowed, but it was so distant that I didn't have any worry at all.
Your coordinates were good with my GPS reading about 6 feet when I was about 10 feet from the Cache, but the funny thing was that when i sat it down it jumped up to 50 feet. But I am sure if I would have let it settle in that it would have given me the right reading. Very nice place you picked for this Cache, and the container was painted well.
I signed the logbook and traded "wheres George" dollars and placed the cache as it was found.
I thank you for the great time on a very nice late november day.
As you can see, Caron decided not to wait for me and left me in the dust to grab first dibs on this Cache. Next time I will leave her in the woods and take her batteries out of her GPSR...that'll teach her!
