| June 28, 1978. Bob Crane, known to the world as Colonel Hogan of the t.v. show "Hogans Heroes", was brutally murdered in his room at a Scottsdale, Arizona hotel while he was in town directing and starring in the play "Beginner's Luck". The killer or killers have never been officially caught, although a friend by the name of John Carpenter was indicted for the murder but found not guilty (he died of a heart attack in 1998 at the age of 70). The hotel has long since been sold and converted into condominiums, but through some internet research and digging, I have found the address. The original room numbering has remained the same. He was staying in 132A, which is at the posted coordinates. To claim credit for this virtual, you will need to attach a pic of the outside of 132A or the sign for the complex entrance to your cache report. Don't forget to stop and remember Bob Crane. Although I have spoken with the current owner, I also ask you to please be considerate and respectful of those that currently live there and not to bother them. Your photo may be taken in the common parking area or at the complex entrance without getting too close at all, in fact, it would be preferable to just snap a quick shot from inside your car. |
