The beech hedge Les Charmilles is the longest one of Belgium, with a length of 573 m. This green tunnel consists of 4700 beeches, 60 to 70% of them are older than hundred years. The tree hedge was cultivated in 1885 on behalf of J. R. Nys, a former entrepreneur.
Park your car at N 50° 28.102’ E 005° 46.749’. Go to the two pillars that mark the beginning of Les Charmilles. Before you start your walk through the green tunnel don’t forget to look to the right. There is a memorial for a noble lady. Note when she died: ab. Decembre cdef. Now walk and enjoy the landscape. At the end of the tunnel you will find a bench, there you can rest and calculate where to search for the cache. It is hidden at N 50° 28.(b-a-e,c,d-a)’ E 005° 46.(b-c,b+e,b-a). |

I love Belgium, and my navigation system in my car allso. Small roads of this kind leading to the parking area and no sign like 'no access for vehicles' as mostly seen in Germany. So I started this cache right at the noble lady. The beech hedge is really charming! I couldn't relax on the bench at it's end. It was allready taken by some old Belgian ladies. So just a short 'bonjour' and I disappeared in the forest beside the astonished old girls. Thanks for the cache!

The third Cpt.Cook cache for today, and a very interesting one. This cache was little more difficult than the others today, but after 2 minutes of seeking it was found.

3rd Cook that day. This one was quite short but very interesting. A place we hadn't been to w/o geocaching.

Searched for it together with May and Scaramanga. A real charming location. That was one of the most beautiful cache locations I ever saw. Absolutely great. I enjoyed every meter of walk. Thank you for this wonderful cache!
