This is an attempt to introduce Upstate NY to NaviCaching & I can't think of a better place than the small town where I went to high school. The real Emma A is a family friend & ironically, her namesake plays a role in this 2-part NaviCache.
From the starting co-ordinates, note Emma A's final day (mmddyyyy) & the highway number (nn) behind you. Be prepared to do some letter/number transformation on the name of the river in front of you where A=1, B=2, ..., Z=26. You'll work with the Clues to determine the 2nd co-ordinates, i.e. the NaviCache. Besides the usual logbook, camera & goodies, this NaviCache contains a "hitch hiker" named Squeeky (since moved to a NaviCache in Massena, NY). Please exchange an item of equal value with one in the NaviCache & post below what you swapped. Enjoy & start a NaviCache of your own! |

Open Log: Non-commercial use only Found this cache after a long day searching for a different cache up in Morristown. It was nice to find something...especially since I wasn't sure if this thing was still around. But the box was untouched...just as yardboy had left it in 2002. Still had everything in it but it was very wet. I dumped about 2 inches of water out of the box so naturally everything inside is destroyed except the big yellow rain poncho. I took the dollar bill and left a candy dispenser. I didn't sign the log book since it was too wet and very slimy...but the cache is in a good hiding place. The box itself needs a little help. Great clues to find it...no problem to plug in the numbers and go!

Open Log: Personal use only I've replaced the missing NaviCache with a new one: small, plasticware container with log book, emergency poncho & flashlight, WheresGeorge.com dollar bill for free tracking, and a Cheap Trick CD. Enjoy (hopefully immature cache thieves will not spoil it for the rest of us).

Open Log: Personal use only Found the first half but the second half eluded me. Found myself short on time after two different calculation results. Then I never got a chance for a third attempt. The only real puzzle was deciding whether or not the river name ended in "E". It is not a big issue because the difference only amounts to 25 to 30 feet. So Yardboy has one on Road Kill for the moment. I may get back up there in a couple weeks.

Open Log: Personal use only This was the first of 2 for the day, in a cool location, though a little public. Nifty area- though I go to SLU, I've never been to that spot before. Nice cache.

Open Log: Personal use only Hey, i finally found this cache with the help of my sister today after some failed attempts yesterday. I ended up first in the middle of a swamp, and then across the road from the actual location of the cache in the middle of a field. Well, i took two of the wheresgeorge dollars and left one of my own wheresgeorge dollars and a box of sparklers. Personally, I think that this cache is a little too close to civilization, but I guess if nobody's looking for it, it's hidden well enough :)

Open Log: Personal use only well i just heard about this from my brother when he asked me to go searching with him. and guess what we (i) found it!!! it was fun trying to figure out the actual points. and the fact that i had never used a gps before was interesting. i took a wheresgeorge bill and put it into circulation at my store, and i left a deck of cards. going on this little treasure hunt really got me interested and i hope to set up my own cache.
