Take a walk through rural Berkshire, and stop at the place where many years ago the local people planted an Oak (or two) in honour of Queen Victoria.

The cache is a small box hidden somewhere between The Queens Oak public house and St James Church, which has stood on the site for over 900 years. Just to confuse matters there are two Oaks and a selection of places it could be hidden. Trust your GPS, but be careful to watch the signal strength, coming at it from certain directions dense tree cover, the church and the hill are all in exactly the WRONG place for getting an accurate position.
The box contains a camera for you to take a picture of yourself, plus an odd mix of other stuff!

The cache is in a usually fairly peaceful spot as the main road has long since been diverted, however watch out for weddings at the church and walkers dropping into the pub for a rest stop. They will start to wonder what you are doing wandering around the green! You could drive to the pub, and find the cache from there, but it is much more fun to explore the Blackwater Valley, or visit the National Trust land around Finchampstead Ridges, and use one of the many footpaths to reach the cache.

Once you've found the cache, go and spend a while in The Queens Oak. The Steak and Ale Pie comes highly recommended.

Just a reminder, when you've found it, and rehide it, make sure it cannot be seen by the casual observer.

Found Today as part of Marathon Caching Trip to the area. TNLNSL, TFTC

PS cache was easily visible from path so I hid it a little better.

Found the cache during my lunch break today. Nice sunny day. a couple of gardeners were having lunch after cutting the grass on the green so I had to be a little careful. Took a CD and put in a collectors model car. Took a photo with the camera in the box and added an entry to the log. This was my cache find. Really enjoyed it.

Thanks

Chris

Hi ! Robin Lovelock here. Only 30 minutes behind those from Winchester(?) and 60 minutes behind those from Holland. Left 2 of my Free CD. Took a picture of June and I with the camera. What a great introduction to geocaching for us - our very first cache found. - better late than never with this log :-) Based on that put up on geocaching.com Since then we removed our CD beermats and added other things. Many Thanks for planting this cache, which introduced June and I to geocaching.
