THIS CACHE HAS FALLEN VICTIM TO WORK BEING DONE BY TOWN CREWS IN THE CACHE AREA. IT HAS BEEN REMOVED.

Cache is located not far off the Genesee Valley Greenway Trail near Avon,NY. Terrain should not be a problem for any member of the family. Cache container is a .30 cal. ammo box, black in color with white lettering identifying it as a geocache. Cache contents include a couple of things a child might like & some neat stuff for a hunter or cacher. Cache also contains the usual log book to jot down your thoughts. Trail is open year round & in the winter, snowmobiles are allowed on the trail.
--NOTE-- The path to the cache is part of the Genesee Valley Land Trust. The DEC has an easement on the property the path is on & about 10 ft. on either side. In the spirit of geocaching, please respect the rights of the adjacent landowners. I say this because there are a few obvious shortcuts to get to this cache, but for the above reasons, don't take them. Landowners in the area are vigilant. You'll see areas along the path where there is trash piles, but they are on private property. Trail is very well maintained & a pleasant walk. Happy caching.

After a morning spent playing splatball this was a long hike!

The trail was a mixture of black mud, horse apples and slush but it was still great to be outside again.

I dropped off the NYPD travel bug and a pair of gloves and picked up a travelling postcard and WG buck.

Thanks for the hide!

Found this one at 2:11pm. Wish I had come in a different way, but it was a nice walk.

The cache is in good shape, but it wasn't very well hidden. I returned it to its location, after swopping and logging, and did a little better job of covering it up.

Took the georges, and Arthur the poem bug.
Left 2 georges, a tape measure, and my QSL.

Cache is in good shape, thanks for the hide Gimpy.

This was the 2nd cache of the day...
Drove to within a 1/4 mi of it....Guess I cheated a little. :)
Nice hide. My Mag 330 said 14ft to go right ontop of the cache.......
While I was hunched down writing in the log, a biker rode by kinda slow, and didnt even see me... :)
Took the two Mexican Centavos and a WheresGeorge bill, and the $1Million bill. Left a book A Guide To Tolkien.
Left all the nasty mosquitoes....But probably brought home some poison ivy with me.. :)

3rd of 4 finds today. Donna was at the LPGA, so I took my Aunt Lois and cousin Deanne with her new MAP 76 for their first day of caching. We left at 6:30 AM to try and beat the heat on this very hot and humid day. But now it's 11 AM. At least the trail was shady and level. While driving to the suggested parking spot, we passed a 1/2 mile long line of horse trailers parked along the road getting ready for a hunt/ride? Had a nice walk to the cache. Coordinates were dead on, no trouble finding. While signing in 3 of the horseriders came down the trail. They had to make a turn into the woods up over the bank by us. They had a little trouble as the horses apparently preferred the level trail. Don't think they even noticed the cache and what we were doing. Saw and passed many more on our way out. Took/left nothing. Thanks for the nice hunt.

Talk about winging it....We were going to do this cache about three weeks ago when we flew
at the Letchworth State Park balloon get together...Unfortunately we ran out of time as most
geocachers do and you know how the rest of the story goes..Soooooo this weekend we're on
our way to fly in Syracuse, taking the long way around of course and decided to try the
cache as the GPS still had the coordinates.. All we lacked was the paperwork....Who needs
paperwork anyway!!..We had a very nice early morning walk of 1.25 miles and back out the
same way...Excellent walk if we must say so ourselves. Saw some deer, rabbits and one
friendly Yellow Lab. We had very little trouble finding the cache (probably because you
didn't place this one in thorns and bramble bushes)..We took a pack of pens and left a
package of velcro stick on disks. Thanks for the great morning adventure

What a picture perfect day for this hike! Mother of Rocky and I had a very nice time and a little chance to catch up with her having recently returned from Sarasota. We walked just far enough before we went off trail to find it. Your coordinates, as usual, are dead on! Thanks for another nice one and for giving us this opportunity to share some time together.

Brought some new cachers with us today. Little chilly, but we had a good time. We where not really dressed for the walk, kind of a last minute decision. This cache was right out in the open. Took and left one wg bill, took waterproof matches and left a multi-use screwdriver. Hid cache very well in same spot so keep your eyes open.

GIMPY, still waiting for that DEEP snow to go after this one. This winter does not want to seem to cooperate. In Feb will be my time to nail this one, been waiting oh so long.

Thanks, Gimpy, for the kind of long but pleasant walk on a nice day. Once again the Mag 315 refused to settle down near the cache site, so had to resort to the photo clue for the final few yards. After spending 10 minutes at the cache, the GPS finally settled to less than 10 feet. Forgot my swap stuff, so took nothing, left nothing, just signed the log. I noticed poison ivy vines climbing nearby trees, I suspect when the vegetation leafs out again in the spring a lot of it will be evident in the area.

Last night, I had seen that Gimpy had planted a new cache Greenway Trail Cache, so Issaquah Puppy and I headed out this morning, and were the first to find it. When we got home, I noticed that Gimpy had planted another cache (this one). So this afternoon, we headed out to find it too. I found the parking spot, and thought that there must be a closer spot. After driving around a bit, I found that there really wasn't (without parking where you are probably not supposed to, or trespassing on private property). The weather was nice. We hiked in, and shortly before getting to the cache location (about .15mi away), I noticed a storm coming in the distance. We hurried to the cache, found it (we were the first again), made a brief log, and headed out (left nothing, took nothing). The wind kicked up, and we started running toward the car then came the rain, and then the lightning, and thunder, and hail. Issaquah Puppy was a bit freaked, and wanted to hide in the bushes. I drug her for a ways while she was putting on the brakes. She eventually decided it was easier just to walk. We made back to the car, though a bit wet. Gimpy, did you plan the location with the idea that people would look for an easier way in, and not find it? You're cruel!
