Comments:
This will probably be the hardest thing you ever do, which is what we had in mind when we placed it.
Take into consideration your physical fitness and training; there is a very real danger from high altitude edema [the brain swells, or the lungs fill with fluid]. There are memorial cairns to those who have died on the ascent.
Only undertake this cache after proper training, experience and with the aid of guides or porters.
Just getting to base camp could be pricey!!
The kind staff of Tanzanias Parks department have offered to maintain this cache from time to time.
BE VERY VERY CAREFUL WHILE ON AN EXPEDITION OF THIS KIND; THIS UNDERTAKING IS NOT FOR THOSE WHO ARE INEXPERIENCED OR UNPREPARED.

We have not implemented maps outside of the U.S.A. ... YET!

Be prepared for a long mental slog.
A special huge 'thanks' goes to Tony Detering and Norm Bailey, the guys that placed this cache for me, while on their expedition.
Kilimanjaro is the highest peak on the African continent, at 5895 meters [19,341 feet] literally, the Roof of Africa.
Do not take this hike lightly; the walk-in takes you through 5 climate zones, from desert to topical to the sub-arctic summit. Altitude will be your biggest challenge.
The cache contains a number of Regimental items, from Canadas' most highly decorated Infantry unit, the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry. It is in a blue 'Powerade' can, on the Roof of Africa.
10 brass collar badges
5 Red and white shoulder titles
10 green and gold shoulder titles
1 blank PPCLI Regimental coin
1 PPCLI hat badge [Tony deterings original issue!]
$5 Canadian coin [1 oz silver]

I can't believe this! I was on the summit of Kilimanjaro on 12 August, 2006 (see www.allenf.com), and at the time I had no idea there was a cache there. I swore I'd never do it again, but now...

I stayed on the roof of Africa. At this time, there was no cache, so I logg the cache and had to get on the Top once more....
