Located just a few miles off Texas 71 outside of Bastrop on the east side of the road.

Everyone has seen or heard of the famous Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie. Well this location is the actual gas station used in the filming of the movie. It is now an office for the owner. If you are a Texas Chainsaw Massacre fan then you will recognize this place from the movie. It has lots of character and strange charm about it. :D

Was able to spend some time today with some friends who lived in Austin a long time, but moved back to Orkney......they wanted to look at wildflowers, and I wanted to hunt for some new caches (especially Texas-Gal's new Giddings caches) so we combined our efforts. Had my eye on 12, came back with 5, so it wasn't too bad.
This is a cache I've been wanting to make it too ever since I found out about it. I knew they guy that, in the movie, was the first to go! Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy ...(just in case you've decided to become a geocache, Allen!)....<
Thanks!

Since I live in Round Rock within a mile of the (former) house on Quick Hill used in the movie I thought I ought to go out and visit the three geocaches related to this movie classic. I think this is the first geocache I was able to claim without even slowing down! Talk about a drive by! Thanx,

TxHiPowr

Found it with Moosiegirl and TreyB after being humbled by the lost pines challenge. It was sure nice to pick up a cache while sitting in the air conditioning. Interesting item to find in that particular location, and you don't see those old ones very much anymore. Thanks, Wayne.
