For those of you who may be wondering, they are indeed still working on 'stream restoration'. Though it seems they trail is semi open. The sign has been changed from Trail Closed to Caution vechicals on trail. I saw one person coming out when I got to the starting point, so I went down the trail (the construction crew was not working today it seems), and crossed paths with a couple more people.

Anyways, a letterboxer emailed me last week saying they had went looking for the box but couldn't find the area described. And they were 100% right about the area being changed. Both of the easy 'dry' crossings are now gone. The log jambe has been pulled out and left on the bank, the stones have been rearranged. They've moved the middle couple, and added some other blocks to form a sort of funnel and shortly thereafter rapids... Good for trout, bad for my shoes [:D]. So anyways I found a shallow area and crossed, and went and checked on the cache. There were deep tread marks that came within 40ft of the container. Also, it was leaned against the 'front' side of the tree, but everything was fine. So Im not sure if a non-cacher found it and put it back, or some cachers did a very sloppy job of putting it back were they found.

Between the construction and snow melt there were lots of trash around so I half filled a big black 30gal bag on the way out. Visiting the area seems to be OK, but you'll probably get wet feet unless your into track and field long jump :D. Hopefully the crew will finish the project the cache and move on in the next several weeks...

Last of 12 caches I found today while in the greater Cedar Rapids area. Found this one around 5pm.
Had no problem finding the first "cache", although the family playing in the park must have thought I looked a bit strange looking around all the trees/objects.

Liked the "challenge" of getting to the second part, although it is getting a bit slick near the far end. But I didn't want to backtrack and find another spot, so I took a "leap of faith" across.

Was disappointed to find that there wasn't a stamp pad in the letterbox container. I tried to improvise with my ink pen and a sheet of paper, drawing lines back and forth over and over to get ink built up on the paper, but it didn't work too well. <<<<edit 1/11/2004.....After emailing Welch, I now see why he didn't leave a stamp pad. Especially here in Iowa where the winter temps get too darn cold for the ink. Be advised that you will need to bring your own stamp pad.>>>>

Took the Pedro Martinez TB along with me and will try to get him to the minor league ball park in Waterloo, IA.

Last of four with adevsmith and kids today. We followed the trail up from Quarry Me Confused. Got to the first spot okay but had some trouble with the next coord. The GPS lead us to a tree near the park sign. The hint "dont fall in" had us looking for the coords on, and in, the porta-john. Finally something in the description clicked and we found the coords.

When we got to the final location, we decided that the kids probably couldnt make it without falling in, so I went to retrieve the cache for the group. I avoided the falling part and chose to "step in" instead. Brought the cache back for every one to see. Signed the log and stamped the letterbox log. I dont think we traded anything, by this time the kids were more interested in the creek than anything else.

The kids filled a garbage bag on the way out.

Thanks for another fun cache
