I had listed this on another website, but am moving it here because the owners of the other site are making changes that take away much of what I love about geocaching. As of 6/3/2003, this cache had 45 visitors.

The description is as follows:


Located a little off trail in a nature preserve.

Cache is an average sized green ammo box. Access to the preserve is obtained by taking Keystone Rd. and turning south onto Lora Lane. Lora Lane dead ends into the preserve entrance. Preserve hours are from dawn to dusk and are enforced.
Park at the entrance and pick up a trail map. The hike in is just under a mile on a well-maintained, level trail. The trail is a loop, so it doesn't matter which direction you travel.

This is a beautiful area with many delicate plants. PLEASE TREAD LIGHTLY! The cache is placed where you don't need to crush anything other than leaves to find it. To get to it, go to the top of the loop and find a red-topped hiking post marker at 28 degrees, 07.386 N, 082 degrees, 40.398 W. From that post, walk at a bearing of 290 degrees down a gulley for about 40 yards. Then turn left (a bearing of about 230 degrees) for about 15 yards. Cache is down in a stump. Thanks and enjoy!

Hi, My wife and I just got into Geocaching. The GPS unit, we have is a Magellan Explorer is modeled 210. My grandson and I decided to go look for this cache on Saturday.

We could not find this cache, but we did find the location of the hiking post, #14 The reading I was receiving on my GPS was N 28° 07.386' W 082° 40.379' That was very close to the given Coordinates in the clue so we were happy. We paced off the 40 yards at 290 deg. down the gulley turned left at about 230° for about 15 yards. This brought us to a badly decomposed stump just across the original trail. We dug around the stump, and only found an old rusty marker light frame and lens cap. What I would like to know. Has anyone found this cache recently, or does it even exist at this location. Like I said earlier, we are very new to this and maybe were you going about it the wrong way to find the cache. I noticed the date of the past find was about 2003, or about four years ago. Am I too late or was this just a miss.

Just logging on 6/26/03 from other site

It's been awhile since we've been out and it felt great to be caching again!! First of 4 finds for the day. We got kind of a late start so it was pretty warm already but had no problems finding this one - most of the park was nice and shady. It's a great park!! Never been there before. Lance said the area where the cache is actually hidden is very Tolkienesque. We took the USA/UPS flag pin and left 2 puzzle toys!

This was a lot of fun...a little soggy. I remember FW&DM beat us to this one by a small margin. Those were the days... :)
