Located in Sampson State Park. Lots of "old" roads and walkways for bike riding. This cache is approved by the park manager as of 5/15/05.

The shortest route may not be the best. Follow the rim.

Don't miss the old incinerator. But please stay out of the building. All the old buildings in the park are deteriorating and can be very dangerous.

Captain Flint was the most evil, cruel and heartless pirate to sail the seven seas and it is his treasure that everyone is after.

Robert Lewis Stevenson, author of Treasure Island, describes Captain Flint: "He was the bloodthirstiest buccaneer that sailed. Blackbeard was a child to Flint."

This marks our sixth of seven caches. We had to ride around on our bikes for a while to find the road that lead us to this hide. We stumbled upon a cemetary and then a waste treatment plant. Pics are included. We finally got there and might I say that was clever. You had us going there for a bit. Bearcub and I were starting to get worn down so we finally made our way toward the cache and signed the logbook and got out toward our last cahe of the day. Nice hide.

Our 3rd find today; we're camping here at the park. Left mom and sleepy 2 yr. old in the car. My 8 yr. old and I went to check out the incinerator. As we neared, we heard buzzing. Having both been stung during a Labor Day weekend camping trip, we decided to high-tail it out of there and concentrate on the cache. We found this one easily after sticking to the trail. Took a toy car and key chain; left a 3' tape measure and rubber ball.

We enjoyed this nice hike to the cache. Surprised we didn't run into any other cachers from the NYGO State Picnic. Didn't have to much trouble finding the cache. We took the mini magnetic game and left a digital stop watch and a globe keychain.

We were going to bike into this area of the park, but we stumbled on the old buildings while driving around. Then we realized we had to be close. TNLN. Thanks for the history lesson!

4th Sampson State Park cache today. We took your advice and followed the rim, which made for a nice easy hike to the cache. Remember being here by the old incinerator last year looking for the 1st part of the old Billy Bones Cache. No trouble finding this one. While Harv signed the log Donna played with the funny noise making thingy but decided to leave it for some other (younger) kid. Thanks for the hide.
