Up a Creek

The cache lies in Onanda Park, which is located on West Lake Road, 7 miles south of Canandaigua. Onanda Park's history dates back to 1919, formerly camps for the YWCA and Camp Good Days and Special Times. The park consists of 80 acres including cabins, pavilions, playgrounds, fishing access, a beach and upland hiking trails with great views of the falls. The free parking area is reached by going up the drive on the west side of the road opposite the main entrance.

The trail to the falls and the cache starts under the wooden sign "Upland Hiking Trail" we recommend you follow the trail keeping to the right until you reach the end of the trail. After finding the cache reward yourself with a downhill return walk and views of the falls.

The cache container is a 30 mm box packed full of trade items. It is well hidden and in order for all cachers to have a good hunt RETURN THE CACHE AS YOU FOUND IT

Nice hide, very nice little park. Sunny and 35 degrees. We took the snap blade knife and left Compton's CD.

First cache since last November. Nice beautiful day to be out in the woods. And what a nice little park for a cache. We really enjoyed the trails. No problem finding the cache, your new cords. seemed dead on with me. We just missed CB by about 1- hours. Signed the log and Donna traded a stick on thermometer and a day planner for the calculator. Thanks for the hide.

Even though we didn't find the cache we had a very nice time. Driving up from Naples we turned off Route 21 well south of the cache to travel some roads we have never been on. The views of the lake were awesome and some of the new homes that have been built are very impressive. This park is truly a hidden jewel. The trails seem very well maintained and the views are terrific. I do have some concern either with the difficulty of this cache or the possibility it may not be there. When we arrived in the area where our GPS told us the cache would be it was obvious that the area had been disturbed by previous cashers who were trying to find this difficult hide. We spent quite a bit of time moving leaves looking about up and down, around and around. My concern is that if someone were walking along the nearby trail they may not have a very positive impression of geocaching given the amount of disturbance that we and other cachers have created. I think this may largely be perception, as we really did no harm but as they say perception is reality. Thank you very much for bringing us to this beautiful place. We had a great day and enjoyed ourselves very much.
