This great bridge was built in 1901, and has gone thru: heavy use, closure, partial demolition, campaign to save, and now reopening to pedestrians.

Ever since childhood we were able to drive across the river on this bridge, then as a young adult they closed it. We would still visit this spot barracades or not, just on foot.

Then the horror of hearing the state was to demolish it. They actually started, but were stopped before heavy damage. The campaign to save the bridge was a huge win. It is now open for all thanks to everyone who cared for it to be saved.

For a lovely area and structure soaked in history, this cache is a must.

Bring your own writing device, also a small flashlight may be needed.

My original geocache (Micro) for Clarkton was the first cache set in Halifax County. For a farther walk this Mini is now a resident of Charlotte County.
