Above you will find the date and time for our 2003 Spring/Summer Geocachers picnic.
It will be located at the "Conifer" pavilion which is at the end of Log cabin road just around the loop.

We had such a great turn out of people last year that I expect the same if not many more from all over the area.

It doesn't matter where you are from, everyone is welcome!

As always at our picnics we ask that if you are able to, that you please try and bring something along.

All types of food are welcome, just log this cache page using the "Comment" option letting us know if you will be coming as well as if you are able to bring a dish or drink.

If you were not able to make our last years picnic, all I can say is you are promised a great time.

I am hoping to raffle off some GPS Equipment as well as a 50/50 raffle.

The coordinates posted are for a very large roofed shelter.
There are bathrooms right next store and plenty of water.

Durand park has been a great location over the past few years for Geocaching as well as our picnic.

There is much to do here so bring the bikes, fishing rods and hiking boots along.

Durand Park has a very nice Arboretum that makes for some great picture taking.
You can also read up on the areas history by visiting The Vintage Views Of Durand Park Website.

This area is packed with Caches within minutes of the posted Coordinates, so bringing your GPS would not be a mistake.

We didn't fall off the face of the earth. We've been looking through every second of footage we shot this weekend...and we're very happy with how it turned out
We're working on scripting our stories, so we should be done by the end of the month. We want to thank everyone who interviewed with us...and especially team Blackpete, for letting us tag along with them on the cache hunt.

We'll be up in an editing bay for the next couple weeks, far from the splendor of searching for caches, but we'll be out and search again soon.

Take care,

The WG Women throughly enjoyed their FTF, oh, they made Pop proud and now you know where I get it from.

A big thanks to the hosts, you did a great job.

What a great time we had at the picnic! Met some "Newbies" and enjoyed meeting faces to put with familiar names. We appreciated those that were able to help with names on our cache photos, how did Rippie recognize his own foot? It was especially clever of Quinn to stop the rain so the meats could be cooked; or did RoadKill do a dance with his hat on? Anyway, we had a great time and look forward to the next gatherings; especially Letchworth! See Ya! Gamma Kitt & Coyote

Cache Find Post: I hung back on this one. I didnít want to go look for a cache with bogus coordinates. So when the organizers said which were the correct ones, off I went. Got to the spot, tugged on a couple of real rocks, when a group who had gone to the bogus coordinates returned. Together we looked for a couple of minutes when Mrs. Blackpete kicked the one rock I hadnít tugged on and it moved. Weíll all talk about this one for a while. Thanks for creative hide.

Hope to see everyone at the August event and Letchworth if not on the trail.

And this log is for the NYGO event cache at the picnic:

Blackpete summed up our travels up pretty well. I headed to the first set of coords with the Ukes. The group that was already there confirmed the numbers we had. We decided it wasn't there and went to the other set we had. The entire group decided the cache couldn't be in the middle of an open cemetary so we all trouped back to the first location and searched for an hour. Finally we came to be aware that we weren't even in the right part of the park...

Once we discovered yet another set of coords, we found it pretty easy.

Thanks for the fun and the exercise!

Thank you to the wonderful organizers of this event!! This was our first geocaching event and we both had a great time. It was nice meeting the faces to the names we've seen throughout the various logs we've read.

As for the cache, yes, we ended up in the woods and cemetery and then back to the first spot, before we decided to get the right coordinates. We found it shortly afterwards. The hiding spot was great!

This is the log for the picnic cache. The first set of coords were for a location 17 miles from the event - we decided they were the wrong set. Grabbed another set and went with Onamission and the SU guys to find the cache. The coordinates took us to a cemetary (.56 walk each way). We looked everywhere. Cenobite and group appeared. Cenobite had a different set of coordinates so we all headed there (.25 walk each way). Met up with other cachers and we all searched the woods for a long time. Decided to head back to the picnic area and see if there were another set of coords. Driving up Log Cabin Road we saw Harv and Donna (without Donna)on the side of the road. He admitted he was only a few feet away from his coordinates. We unloaded our two cars and started looking. It wasn't long until we realized where the cache was hidden. Thanks for the hunt and the exercise. Took nothing, left nothing.
