This gathering takes place on October 18, 2003, the right time for Fall colors! It will be held in Letchworth State Park in the same area as last year, but in the South Highbanks Enclosed Pavilion; see the new coordinates. There is a large parking lot and restrooms near the pavilion. TO VISIT THIS CACHE PAGE AGAIN USE ZIPCODE 14530.

The park opens at 6:AM and Closes at 10:00 PM. There is a $5. entrance fee per car. If you want to camp in the park call 1-800-456-2267 or Highbanks Tent and Trailer (camping) 237-3303. There are other campgrounds outside the park as well. There are strict regulations regarding pets; short leash, proof of shots, etc. Pets are PROHIBITED from all park buildings, cabins, cabin areas, and pool areas!

The pavilion, South Highbanks is near the Mt. Morris entrance in the area of the North Swimming Pool. It has a capacity of 184 people, there are 23 tables. There are 8 grills in a covered vented area attached to the enclosed pavilion. There are only 2 electrical outlets, 1 in the cooking area and 1 in the enclosed area; both are high up so short cords will not work. There is running water just outside the pavilion. There is a huge fireplace inside at one end of the Pavilion. There is a large play area and playground equipment for kids.
We could do breakfast as well as lunch, any takers?

Lunch will start around noon. It will be a "Bring a Dish" type picnic as before. You will be expected to BRING AND HELP COOK MEAT FOR YOUR OWN FAMILY. Ideas along that line are welcome. Also NOTE: What we carry in we must carry out, so help with clean-up is assumed. We will allow some alcohol in moderation for adults, as before. (I had to sign a permit for that).

This event information will be added to as the time draws nearer. I wanted you to be able to start making plans and marking your calendars as soon as possible. Log on with a note to let us know what dish you will bring and how many there will be in your group. for further information contact me at fschutte@rochester.rr.com

I sure did find it! I found it so great to see so many faces, new and familiar. I found the event cache by Rusty-O-Junk and Gandalf to be so tough yet easy. I found the variety of delicious dishes outstanding. I found the helpfulness of all terrific. I find the logs delightful! I find the pictures shared great fun. I found RoadKill to be the super brother I always knew he was. I wish I could thank each individual who attended in person, but perhaps that can be done when we meet again next year.
Thanks to all! Gamma Kitt

A BIG THANK YOU goes out to The Blackwatch Clan and Roadkill
for another successful event! Has it already been a year
since the First. It was good to see many older cachers
again, and to meet more "NEWBIE'S".
As usual, the food and hospitality were GREAT.
The timing was good for the fall colors.
Even the weather held out till late in the day.
And for some reason, there is never enough time to do everthing.
We only got to do a few caches along with Team Headrush,
Team Bullivant, and the CellarSavers.
Thanks for another fun and eventful day.

Thanks to everyone who helped put this picnic together. We had a great time the night before hanging out with Brogan and the others at his bonfire, and doing the special night cache (without GPS!). Thanks also to Junglehair for letting us crash on her site to sleep in our van. Grabbed a nice cache find along with SueShe, BarbershopDru,and QuilterCC mid-morning. We also ended up spending most of the picnic day working on the truly EVIL man's cache, enjoyed it alot tho, very mind-boggling. Was great searching with Harv on 1st part, and continued searching along with Gandolf, Rusty-o-Junk and Swamprats on the other parts, great group cache efforts and teamwork. After getting back to pavilion, had great conversations with those that were left there, both old and new friends. Thanks again for another great year at Letchworth.

Another great caching event. Thanks Gamma Kit, Coyote, Roadkill, Brogan and anyone else I missed for putting on such a fine event. The food was great, only wish I had taken the time to sample some of the other delicacies I saw on the table. Nice seeing old friends and meeting some new ones. Wish I had been able to see more, just not enough time to try and cache and visit. Maybe next year Iíll leave out the caching and spend more time socializing. Also enjoyed the visit around the campfire in the camping area later in the evening. Hopefully Donna will be able to make it next year.

The attached photo recorded who's there at 3:15 PM. With approximately 90 signing in and 70 counted at the meal, those missing either couldn't stay or couldn't break away from caching. Oh yes, and some came later. If you missed them Rocky and Gimpy were there.

In the end - fun was had by all.

We had a great time at the picnic. Mega-thanks to the Blackwatch Clan & Co. for putting it on. Can't wait for the next one. My (almost famous)Dutch oven baked beans seemed to be a hit...it was the first empty dish (rats, no leftovers). So nice to put faces with names. Dropped off Ned Flanders TB, picked up Electron #1 TB and StarBear TB.

We could still use some flipper holder things for turning hamburgers aadn hot dogs while cooking. We could use a few hot dogs & rolls. For 8 grills we will need some charcoal, starter, matches, & cooks. I was worried about too many cakes now we could usse some cupcakes aand cookies. How about some cidar and donuts? We need cheese to go with the crackers, soup bowls for the chili, hot cups for the coffee, and some regular coffee, Don't forget serving spoons for the salads, etc. Seasonal fresh fruit might be nice. If it is cold, we will want some firewood for the fireplace.
What have I forgotten? See Ya! Gamma Kitt
