This cache is on top of Broads Fork Twin Peaks between Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons. The last mile and a half of the trail is STEEP and rocky with loose rocks and boulders and exposed cliffs. Please use extreme caution and know YOUR abilites and limits! This was one of the harder peaks that I've climbed. There is a very nice trail for three miles up the canyon. It's called Broads Fork and the trailhead is at the the bottom of the S-curve in Big Cottonwood canyon. The trail passes through beautiful meadows and winds through Aspens and Pines. It passes a Beaver pond too. And there are Beavers in it, they were slapping there tails in the water when I came past them in the pitch dark on the way back down. The 3 mile trail ends at the bottom of the basin. Looking up you can see Dromedary and Sunrise Peaks. The trail grows faint from here on out. There is an occasional cairn or two to show you the way. Please do some research on this climb before you do it. If you don't, you'll end up on the saddle and won't be sure which way to approach. The view at the top is beautiful. You can see Lone Peak, Pfeifferhorn, Red Top Mountain, American Fork Twin Peaks, Mt Raymond, Gobblers Knob and many other peaks! The entire Salt Lake Valley is visible from the top of the West Peak, which is where the cache is hidden. Enjoy the view! The cache is a small, blue container that was designed as a crayon box originally. There are some crayons in the box so you can color a picture in the log book if you want. There is nothing else in the container. This cache was placed here for the challenge and view at the top, not for the contents of the cache. Please keep that in mind. Also, if you'd like to add something to the cache, feel free to do so. However, keep in mind that the cache box is rather small, so put something small in it. Thanks! |

this was my first cache find. i decided to go big for my first attempt at geocaching. coordinates were right on and the cache was in good shape. i took the cach-u-nut and will log it's travel shortly. i left a swiss army knife, and put the cache in a secondary ziplock baggie (old baggie was in bad shape).

Hiked to the location with Jasmine within a group of Wasatch Mountain Club hikers from Deaf Smith canyon. It took the whole group 4.5 hours to the Western Twin, but we went to the East Twin first to check on the cache, and only there realized our mistake.
