Desert cache along the north boundary of the Coachella Valley. You can drive within 30 feet if you have 4x4 vehicle. Otherwise walk up the road from the north-east of Fan Hill. The aqueduct access road is passable with a non-4x4 vehicle. Cache is in an animal image cookie tin. Contents are mostly books: Longitude by Dava Sobel (every geocacher should read this book), an insect book, a bird book, a minerals book, and a tin of cinnamon Altoids. I drove almost right to this cache. Not much of a 4WD adventure, but hey, without 4WD we might have had a long walk.

Took the mining spikes from Tecopa, CA (I used to soak in the Tecopa Hot Springs after a hard day of mapping extinct lave flows while working for the Smithsonian), and left a Where's George Dollar.
