The hike is only 1.2 miles from the parking lot, but it feels like 3 miles because of the elevation increase.

Lake is the location of a High Sierra Camp, one of five that are 8 miles apart from each other in a circle. Some are located at excessively high altitudes. Reservatons are available to the public.

We saw a grouse with her babies, and an unshy marmont.
