This is one of three virtual caches on the University of Alabama campus highlighting historical events or places.

When the invading Yankees came to Tuscaloosa in March 1865, they burned most of the University buildings. However, a few survived and remain standing today. In order to log this cache, please email us with the name (and year) of the first structure built on the original campus, which survived the marauding Union troops who "bravely" defeated the Confederate defenders composed of senior citizens and children. Deo Vindice!
