How many times have you driven down Pleasantville Mountain and wished you could pull over to take in the view, but there was no place to park. Well, this cache provides that view without dodging the traffic.

Coordinates posted are for summer parking. Stage 1 can be found at N40 12.486, W078 40.508.

From the summer parking area, this two-stage cache requires a one mile round trip hike. Summer parking is available from May 1st until the end of buck season. Once the gate is closed, the winter parking coordinates should be used, which increases this hike to about 3 miles round trip.

This cache has been temporarly reduced from three stages to two while we fix the device for one of the stages.

Be sure to wear orange during hunting season.

Final coordinates are at N40-12.xxx and W78-40.yyy. You can find the values to x and y posted at stage 1.

If for some reason the clue at stage 1 is missing, we created the following bypass:

x’s = LKA
y’s = MGC

Use the existing features at stage 1 to fill in the coordinates!

AB = # of planks on the deck
C = # of planks creating each step tread
DE = # of steps
FG = # of joists holding up the deck
H = # of posts holding up deck and access
K = B+1
L = E+3
M = H-3

This cache is placed in memory of Mr. John Denver whose love of the outdoors birthed ours so many years ago.

"To the mountains, I can rest there. To the river, I will be strong. To the forest, I'll find peace there. To the wild country, where I belong." John Denver

Place with permission of DCNR until November 15, 2010.

Removed original stage 1 to revise problems with the device. Reset other stage and posted coordinates, added work-around in case problems would occur with the other stage.

D@nim@l and I decided that we should blow our $20 of free Sheetz gas by attempting some Grayfinders caches way up yonder in Cambria County. It's a very good thing that we did the trip in the relatively fuel-efficient Scion because we're going to have to make another trip to get this done. We were fortunate that the gate is still open to the "summer" parking coordinates but this is right where our good fortune ended. I was initially very confused because I didn't have the first stage coordinates in my GPS and Dan did. I didn't know how this could happen until much later when we reviewed the logs in Dan's Nuvi which revealed that some changes were made to the cache that didn't yet make it into my PQ data. This wasn't such a big deal because I had the proper numbers on a brandy-new printout but this did us no good because these numbers turned out to be about 60 feet off and that was enough to make things really hard. We searched for about an hour before we gave up to try "Round Top" and then for another hour on the way back to civilization before Dan happened upon the first stage cache. This is as far as we got because by now we had had enough of this cache. We'll be back to finish it on another day. I hope we can make it back here before the gate is closed.
