I recently visited the cache and posted some pics of the general area here on the Navicache.com website. Take a look at the pics as the area is quite beautiful!

There's quite a bit of tree cover here during the spring and summer months which could make locating the cache a bit more difficult during this time.

Maps are queued for generation.

Nice scenic hike from the parking area. Bring a camera or your dog for the day.

People saavy to the area will know to park elsewhere for a shorter hike but they'd be missing out on a great walk across the Genessee River Walkway. Park free at the Maplewood Park parking lot (N. 43 degrees 11.696 W. 77 degrees 37.301) and walk across the road to the Walkway to make this about 1 1/4 miles as the crow flies. Once across, keep the river to your left and follow the walking trail all the way back past the Seneca Park Zoo and old Trout Lake. The area is generally easy walking and well traveled by other hikers and bikers. Lots of people bring their kids and dogs here and you can visit the zoo for a nominal fee (about 4-5 dollars per person) or use the various free picnic areas or kiddie playgrounds. People may even be fishing in the "lake". Lots of wildlife here, such as chipmunks, woodpeckers, and even deer.
The cache is hidden in a small red metal lunchbox under a fallen tree trunk. Inside you'll find lots of small trinkets, like a souvenir Coca-Cola pocket knife, sunglasses, hockey cards, and more!

Once you find the cache, don't stop there! Follow the trail further north and enjoy the scenery! There are stairs and walkways down to the river and even a small waterfall if you go far enough back.

Other than the walk, the location and terrain is easy enough for anyone. This is my first cache.. enjoy!

An excellent place to visit. This was our last find of the day and most favorite. Found the cache in good condition on a nice sunny day. Our parking spot was very close to the cache so we didnt have too far to walk. After the find, we decided on walking a little farther down the trail to take in some of the scenic views, creeks and wildlife. We'll be back to explore the other trails and to do some more caching. Also saw a few ducks walking through the woods. TN/LN, Thanks for the adventure.

Logged this one with RobNHood after we had trekked up and down the steeper parts of the gorge on 3 other caches. This was a nice easy find to cap the day. We took the short route, but maybe someday we'll return and do the hike. Thanks for the fun.

What a great day for a walk in the woods!

We were having a tough time locking in on the coordinates but managed to find the cache easily. We took an Indiglo night light and left a keychain flashlight and our "calling card".

Thanks for introducing us to this beautiful park!

Our first Cache find! Took the family and a friend - we live by Seneca Park, so we walked from home. We each left an item and took an item - we left Sagagawea and Susan B. Anthony dollar coins, a little pig figure, a yoyo, a street hockey glove. We took a 20 pesos bill, a super ball that lights up, a CD (Jack Johnson?), and I took the creekside.com travel bug. I can't wait to plant it somewhere. We got close using the coordinates, but needed to use the hint, since with all the tree cover we were not getting the most accurate readings. Once we got the hint, we found it in no time.

Nice day for a hike. Was the second cache we had a go at today. We were looking up the wrong tree, so to speak, to begin with. When we were right on top of it our GPS said we were 30 feet away!

The weather was better than last week. About 80 with a slight breeze. Thanks for the treats. We left a clock night light and took the african necklace.

Fun and very pretty! I saw someone going in just ahead of me so I hung back to feed the ducks for a while. After enough time had passed I went in and found the cache pretty easily. Took a keychain/watch and George bill - left another George bill, a stuffed bear, and a new CD. There was plenty of room for more stuff in this box, so I did my best to fill the empty space. :)

Well, for the family's first cache with no GPS, I would say we did pretty well. It took us two separate times, but it was great. The first attempt we found ourselves standing on the very tree it was near! Then we came and printed the maps to bring with us. The anticipation running towards all those tree stumps!!! LOLOL We took a stir stick from the "Castaways" in Miami, Florida, signed the log, and left a toy truck, a playstation game, a watch keychain, two george's for tracking purposes, my son's nickel, and a little something from our chowdog chi for the cache pooches. We are going again today on this beautiful Saturday! What a great way to get the family together!

I left a wheresgeorge bill and 2 fresh AA Batteries for those GPS units. I know they like to eat batteries. Thanks for the hike!

We have enjoyed walking the bridge many times so yeah, we cut right to the chase. Pretty easy find, it really is a neat hiding place though since it is right there but not glaringly obvious. There are a lot of people wandering around, so it is difficult to be discreet. The cache has lots of little toys and stuff, we signed a paper scrap and put it back in its place - Time for a real logbook...(or a stapler)! Haven't really wandered in that particular area of the park, so we will definitely have to come back, thanks for pointing it out and a fun cache!

We enjoyed the walk and I saw the hiding spot before the kids did.. THey were turned around by the GPS readings... Took them time to figure out the readings were for the other side of the creek... Now we know about tree cover... =OD

Fellow GeoCacher Suzy had just shown me the Old Trout Pond this Spring & after I randomly parked my car today at 7PM, I was 100' & 1 minute from the Cache! I took nothing, not even the $150. I left a WheresGeorge.com bill for free tracking. I departed quickly as there was a hot & heavy couple on a nearby bench!
