Very easy cache. The most challenging thing about this cache will be the hike to the “summit.” Once you’re up there, take some time to catch your breath and enjoy the view. You are looking for a Lock-N-Lock style Rubbermaid container.

This cache is located at the “Lower Place” in Perkinsville, New York. This site was owned by our family for over three generations. The “mountain” as it is affectionately (or fearfully) called is a large field that is somewhat difficult to plow, harvest, etc. due to the steep terrain.

Mama Cass was less than impressed with our “mountain,” however. In her words, “this isn’t a mountain. This is a hill.” However, I assure you that if you tried to drive a tractor out across parts of the terrain, you would understand why this field has been called the “mountain” by four generations of farmers.

Update on 5/2/07: The property has been sold. The new landowners, Frank and Ellen Gendreau, have graciously agreed to allow the caches to stay in place. They have been longtime neighbors and my grandfather thought very highly of them. I cannot thank them enough for their generosity.

Note: The Gendreaus have placed posted signs around the property in order to discourage trespassers. These signs DO NOT apply to geocachers.

If anyone asks, you have permission to use this land for geocaching purposes from Frank and Ellen Gendreau--the new landowners.

Note: This cache was previously posted on geocaching.com. I recently became aware of this site and wanted to post my caches here as well.

This was our 3rd J-Dog and Mama cass find this morning. We were working on "Clyde and Flora's cache when we decided to locate this one. This is quite a hill! I spotted this one first and then Bo had his nose right on it. Killerb also made the find right away. I loved the view from this location and I can't imagine what it must have been like for you to have grown up around here and had all this beautiful property to explore. We met the new landowner who was busy working on restoring the barn and we enjoyed our chat with him before we headed off to find the caches on his property. Thanks for another fun caching adventure. -Paleoman52-
