So where in the world is Huckleberry Island? Piece of trivia: there are 9 Huckleberry Islands in the US, but this one is probably the smallest and least visited. At the time the cache was placed, we were able to get there feet dry all the way. This will change (and so will the difficulty level) with the seasons and the water level.

Be sure to mark the waypoint where you enter the wooded area, and also take a good compass bearing. The brush is heavy in some spots, and you may get turned around while taking detours and climbing over and under it.

Cache is a 50 cal ammo box painted green. Once on the island you shouldn’t have too much difficulty finding it. Good luck!

Very neat area, and yes, it was a good opportunity to learn about some more features of my GPS! What a neat tree! Took Emergency vest and left neat screwdriver. Signed the log and headed in the direction of traffic noise!

There's is a beautiful old tree, about 25' from the cache, that I fell in love with. What a beautiful tree. This one is magnificant. Oh did I tell you about the tree ? Nice hike ! Took lightstick...Left candle.

[I guess now I finally see the need for a good topo map! This cache is easily one of the most difficult I've done to date.] I must say sometimes a straight line isnt the fastest route (live and learn.) [I am glad I did it however, now, rather then later after the foliage came out. Talk about tricky!] We picked our way back through the swamp for what seemed like hours and hours (felt a bit like Frodo going through the swamps with Sam and Gollum). The paths seemed to start and then just disapear, but [we finally made it back to the cache and found the cache container with relative ease (for which we were very happy. There were some beautiful knobby old trees by the cache (ents?) I wish now I had taken their picture! Looking through the log book I saw someone had found the cache by accident, which I cant even imagine! We somehow managed to follow the the same] very indistinct[path back out w/o using the gps, I am glad I did however as we had somehow managed to drop my brand new GPS case into the muck =( I was glad to find it, we then continued back to the car. Thanks for the very very interesting hike back into an area we had seen on the map but otherwise would have never visited. The area back by the cache is very beautiful. Thanks for the hide!

Met up with Gimpy for this one. I thought that his mapping software might keep my head above water in this weather. Took nothing, left nothing but my mark. Tnx fer the hide.

Joined Wyzyrd on the hunt for this cache. A whole lot of fresh snow made for a real interesting hike to the cache. Very easy to get turned around on the way back, but didn't have too much difficulty. For sure, an adventure. Blanket of snow really added to the search at the cache location, but success was ours. Took nothing & left a wheresgeorge bill. Cache is in great shape. Thanks for the adventure,TeamEMS. "Gimpy"

This was a great way to start the new year. We had a nice hike in and found the cache at 3:30pm with minimal searching. Thank you for the suggestion that we take a waypoint upon entering the woods. Had we not, we might still be there.
Two deer ran by as we were making the log book entry - I'm not sure who was startled more. They snorted - we yelped.
Took the Lilliput yellow cache travel bug 308609 and left handwarmers.
Thanks for an exciting outing.

What an experience this one was!

After parking, I tried to head to the cache via what looked like well defined trails. When I ran out of trails I was forced to try and make some. At some points I was completely blinded by vegetation - and I'm six feet tall. I ended up falling in the murky water and getting soaked. I managed to keep the GPSr dry but not my cell phone. :(

Once I managed to find dry land things got easier. I even saw a flock of 9 or 10 good sized turkeys.

I did find the cache and Quinn's tree. It was very peaceful back there - nice location.

This was a good learning experience for me. From now on everything goes in plastic bags and I will have to remember "if it looks too hard to be the right path, it probably is..."

Took light stick and left a sealed blank tape since that was the only thing still dry.

First of the day on my return to local geocaching, all-west-side day of hunting. I had a great time with this one! Terrain was challenging but, thank goodness, mostly flat. Saw some signs that previous visitors might have looked in a few of the spots that caught my eye - but the real location eluded me for a while until I gave up on the satellites and just walked the Big Circle. Took only the traveler, left a music CD and a PS2 promo disc. The person who logged before me had just stumbled over the cache by accident - pretty amazing! - and expressed and interest in learning more about our favorite pastime. I couldn't read the email address they left, though...I hope someone else can!
While I was in the cache area I was serenaded by many different birds. What a lovely spot!

I found this cache around 2:20pm today.
What a nice and well hidden area. This would make for a great fall cache hunt as well as early spring.

I had a great time on this little adventure, but I would without a doubt make sure that you mark your location before you break off into the cache area. It could be very easy for someone or a family to get turned around in there. so make certain you have extra batteries with you as well.

Bring the camera on this one, you will like some of the formations you see along the way.
I left a nice fold open calculator as well as a "Where's George" dollar bill for tracking purposes. I took nothing in return so that the box can build a bit. I also signed the log book and replaced this neat cache back as I found it.

I noticed a very interesting tree not far away that I thought was out of place for the area. I have included a pix of the tree for you to see.

Thanks again for the hunt, and I would say others will like this as well.

2nd to the cache. If you like good goodies in your cache boxes then this one is for you...lots of nice items. I left my mark and a short log, took nothing. Be sure to notice the huge natural formation slightly to the south you will say "wow".
Thanks for the island hop.

Huckle Berry Beanstalk! 1st to find cache, at 7:20PM. Was a nice evening walk for us. Never walked to an island before w/o seeing any water. We need rain! Lots of great looking hiding spots in the area.

Took pocket calendar, left deck of cards.
