Aka - the Wanderer. This is a navicache(cache)/groundspeak(travel bug) hybrid.

Congrats to GOF1 on the FTF!!! 3/17

By now, you may know why we started this series and what is all about, if not check out any of the previous ones for the scoop. This hide in the series is going to be 'a little bit different', but we hope it will stay along in the same spirit. We wanted to give others the chance to hide a cache a 'little bit further' from the next cache site they explore or one of their own favorite caches. When you encounter the endcache of this hide you have choices!!! They are...
1) sign the log, & replace it for the NTF to claim, OR
2) Take it, claim FTF when logging cache page & promptly rehide in a place of your choosing (within the Buffalo region, please) OR
3) Take it, then decide this is way too much to comprehend & promptly drop it off INSIDE the nearest cache & log it like a travel bug, so the NTF can snag it to hide. (it has it's own dog tag inside)
To complete the task at hand & to be able to take credit for this cache electronically you must find it AND re-hide it. And any cacher will be able to claim it and get credit for it any number of times, as long as they re-hide it & aren't NTF. All other claims on the cache page will not be accepted, sorry. Posting notes & DNFs will encouraged though.
Please, remember as always, there are rules. When placing this or any cache you must follow proceedures outlined in 'The Guidelines for Listing a Cache'. If you've never place one before this will be a good lesson. The ideal spots should also follow the spirit of the series, way off the beaten path just past a nice/fun cache in the woods, near babbeling water. And don't make it too hard either. Put it in the obvious place. The challenge here is to be able to physiacally get there and also to get there first, not to pick around for hours in the devious spots. The NTF should 'get the feeling' quickly that its not there anymore (ie. trampled down snow, grass, or other creative signs) When you've succeeded in finding a good spot, make sure that its aleast .10 miles away from other existing caches and legs within multicaches. If you have any doubts, do the research first. Once it's in place, simply e-mail me with the new coords to the endcache & trail head (cache its a little bit further than) to be submitted for review. The cache will then show up in its new location for the next FTF to snag. sound like fun? And, if the locale works out good, maybe make it permanent later. Oh, yeah, be fair, don't let on to your caching buddies know when & where you've placed it, OK?
This series of micro caches are designed to be companion caches to existing popular caches around the WNY area. They will take you to, or make you return to, and just past some caches we that we had fun with. Although these hides are NOT going to be all that hard to find, getting to them will be another story. They are designed to be physically challenging to get to and will probably not even be available at certain times of the year, being that they will usually be near moving water. So donít bring little kids or the physically challenged. And be careful yourself, just because I can get to them doesnít mean you can. You will have to use your own discretion as you go. Once you do get there though, it should be a pretty easy go of it. You know, in the obvious spots (well to us anyway). Snow, as usual, may inhibit that though.
This micro spawned from the combine pipe dreams of myself and Dr. Evil. The cache that it's a little bit further from, in this case, is Island Madness (GC) by Madmann but i wouldn't start from there unless you have a canoe. From the looks of it, from my mapping software, it is near the confluence of Ellicott and Bizer Creeks, just north of UB campus. This one has been recently replaced by Griffindor. Don't get your hopes up about premium swag, it's just a primitive cache & log. And as always, a good rule of thumb - bring own writing utensil.
Thanks & good luck! mm

figured we'd grab while in the area. it was between a rock and a hard place all right and mounds of poison ivy and some other stinging plants that have blanketed the area since it's placement. i guess we'll rehide it soon. thanks for the hide!

Rayman, you'd better hurry up and come get this thing, before I grab it and take it to the Southtowns. I have 2 cool spots picked out. Oh, choices, choices.

Okey dokey, I stopped by the site where I hid the cache, and it seems that the coordinates *are* off by about 20 feet. (Why, I don't know - I took about 7 or 8 readings the first time!) I was bouncing around a bit, but these coordinates should be more zeroed on the exact location:

N43 00.717 / W070 47.454

Maybe Madmann can fix the coordinates at the top of the page?
I hope this is better, and sorry about that.

But to anyone who goes looking: Use the clue!

That being taken care of, I have to say that while I was standing around waiting for my GPS to settle down, I saw the biggest bunch of fish in the water... they had to be two feet if they were an inch! I'm assuming that they were only carp, but they sure were fun to watch :)

I'll stop by after work tomorrow and check the coordinates again... But if you were in the general area, the clue should have made it a very easy find!
I could not find it. 16 Apr 2006 by  Rayman77   (Finds: 104   Score: 393.5)   (Hidden: 10   Score: 32.5)

Brought the bike out for the first time this year and headed over here from Marvin G. Hardy Memorial. Coords put me in the middle of the creek and I searched both sides. Couldn't come up with a find though. Guess I'll wait till the next relocation before another attempt. I've got a good spot to put it too.

OK, so I heard that there was a moving cache around, and despite my search efforts, I wasn't able to find the listing for it. So yesterday, after doing one of Madmann's caches, I was checking this site to see if the cache was listed here, too. Lo and behold, guess what I found? :)

Well, evidently, the map does not update with new coordinates. Looking at the map, I thought that I would be looking for the cache just around the corner from work. Wrong! I ended up taking a lot longer drive than I had anticipated. My poor dog was waiting at the door with her legs crossed when I got home :P

So anyway, I found the cache. A bit tricky finding access to the area, but I figured it out. Pretty cool area! The cache was about 30 feet from a couple of (strange) guys fishing. I am very glad that the container was so that I could easily grab it. On the other hand, I can't believe that with all the traffic in the area, that no one passing by didn't just pick it up!

The container was wet inside and the (very cute!) logbook is pretty damp. When it is all dried up, I will be placing the cache in a new location.

Might I suggest to future cachers of this cache to maybe state at least which town the cache is in? That way everyone will have some idea of how far they may have to drive. That is, if the map still doesn't change. (I will *not* be putting the cache off of Pfohl Road!)

Thanks Madmann for something fun and different!

Can't believe I was the first to get to this one!
Most of the water had subsided, so swimming was not required.
Will rehide this cache soon.
Thanks for the fun.

Heck, would have done it today if I hadn't had to pull a double. I'll probably try it tomorrow. I want to scout the area anyway. Saw a few "prime spots"

Nah, your's was listed first, I "retired" mine and made it a permanent Navicache. I think the location is great anyways. So someone go out and find THIS cache already!

Uh, I guess we should have talked to each other, Madmann :-). I just hid a moving navicache, probably posted to the website within an hour of yours on Sunday, 12 March! Oh well, mine is more of a full-sized cache, so I don't see any real problems here.
