I worked quite a while trying to get my first real cache together. Unfortunately it was just one of those things that wasn’t meant to be. This is my Second Choice for my first cache. It’s pretty ordinary - not as fun and different as I wanted my first cache to be, but I guess all that matters is that I finally got one out!

Please note that the parking on Mapleton can accommodate only a couple of cars.
The recommended parking is at N43° 07.441/W 078° 45.035

On a mild February day, it is a pleasant walk to the cache, but I foresee it being much more of a challenge once the vegetation starts growing (read: pretty crazy bushwhacking!).

You are looking for a 50 cal. ammo can. Please rehide it as you found it.

Found while out doing some heavy winter caching in the area.

Taking a DNF because I got the car stuck left a bad taste in my mouth so I came back for this one and managed to get the car just off of the road so I could still get out. I am especially glad I came back now that I realized that this is the only cache left of yours I have not found.

Took the two trails back to the cache and made the find quickly after a brief bushwack. As per usual I was not disappointed by the cache. I am disappointed that there are no more of your great caches to find. *HINT*

Thanks for making another trip to the area very enjoyable.

Very nice second choice. Took 2 golf balls and left a rino. Thanks for the fun. Outdoorkpn.

These are some nice trails up here in Niagara County. Only needed to dodge a few patches of mud and puddles before reaching the cache hide area. Chose the wrong side of the creek at first, but quickly made my way to the other side and the great find. TFTC.

Since it's night cache friendly, I very well might have tried to beat CC to the punch, but I didn't see it until the 2nd day. A very interesting area, with lot's of blowdown. Left an aluminum bottle opener took a new Where's George dollar. A very good 2nd choice; I'll be going for the 2 Lockport virtuals sometime in the relatively near future :-). TFTC

Well we woke up early on our day off having to use the facilities after a couple of fellow cachers failed to consume their fair share of the 7th to find prize at Wandering through Lancaster’s mystery final last night causing us to take in too much fluid before hitting the hay last night. Of course there was no way we would be able to get back to sleep. Our first thought was to watch a little TV but we have already seen the Girl’s Gone Wild infomercial about 914 times (like a moth to the flame!) so we went to the laptop and checked the new postings on the available caching sites.

Seeing this one posted got us a little excited but frankly a FTF run to Lockport wasn’t in our plans today and we ignored the opportunity to claim a FTF for about six minutes until the bug became fully awake and led us out the door.

We left Lancaster with clear skies and balmy 33 degree temps. Upon arriving at the parking cords we found slightly different weather conditions with fog as thick as pea soup. All right it wasn’t that thick maybe more like minestrone. Well not exactly Minestrone either because there weren’t any chunks of fog. I guess chicken broth most accurately describes the thickness. Anyway we headed into the fog about 6:00AM, use the clue to our advantage (hey who wants to bushwhack in chicken broth?) and found the well stocked ammo can claiming the FTF at 6:20AM.

We traded a flashlight and bionicles toy for a Frito Lay note pad and key chain. We also left behind a TB that we will have to log on the other site. Our cords had us at about 20 feet off our zero but that shouldn’t prevent anyone from recovering this one. We also added a little bit more cover to the cache as we found it to be a little overexposed. We hope the owners don’t mind.

Finally congratulations to the owners for placing the first “real” cache. We’ll be looking forward to seeing more.
