This cache is in a remote, little visited part of Durand Eastman Park. We found that the Rochester Orienteering Society map was very helpful in identifying the trails, especially if you come from the main parts of the park (as we originally did). Save some waypoints on the way in where you find trail junctions, as this might make it easier to find your way back. While the trails are distinct, they aren't marked and they are generally narrow.

For the first person who finds the cache there is a Navicache tee shirt that we obtained from Caron's Cache -- keep if you want, or move it to some other cache and track its travels. There's also a jigsaw puzzle, a large carbiner, and various other things in the cache. It's a 50 cal. ammo can.

The name comes from the orienteering marker near the cache - we found this spot while doing the orienteering course in Durand.

6/5/2002 Man, we placed this cache over a week ago and no one's gotten it yet! What a bunch of wimps!

I am looking for older caches so I decided to start logging my finds here too.

Very wild territory for a public park. Long neglected, which makes it a great spot for a cache!

This was a nice hide in an area of the park we didn't know was there. We definitely came at it from the wrong direction, through many prickers. The GPS brought us right to it and the cache was in great shape. Thanks for showing us this area.

This was the toughest one we've done to date. We picked a poor parking location and did a lot of walking. Nice area of woods.

Our fourth cache. Muddy hike, we might have come at it from a bad direction.

This was our first experience in Geocaching - I'm hooked! Velochef and I found this with our friends (T.H.E.M.), and had a great day. Although we've spent a lot of time in this park, I'd never been to this particular section - so that was fun, too! A really nice way to spend the day outside. Took nothing, left Olympic lanyard, signed log.

Finishing up the GPS-O and almost tripped on this one. I left it where I found it but it was in an open area. Of course I probably would not have seen it if I wasn't looking. Left the Sponge-Bob Keychain TB that I'll Log on Geochache. I see nobody's been here since September. That's too bad it was such a nice hike. Saw numerous deer and squirels. Hills not so bad for this one.

Finding a place to start has been our dilemma. We started earlier than usual and decided to try this one. One spot was .8 from the cache but soon ran out of trails with a potential .5 bushwhack. We turned around and found the same spot others used (hadn't seen the logs until now) at .18 and bushwhacked in since there was very little evidence of any trails. Walked right up to the cache but who knows where we were! Took nothing, left nothing.

Bushwacked in arriving at 8:13. Took nothing and left a Rochester History CD. Thanks!

Very nice hide, I grew up playing all over the other side of Kings Hwy. never spent much time in this part of the park, nice and quiet. The Wheelygood Team was down to a single rep by the time we got to this cache the rest of team bailed for some lunch but I carry plenty of "reserves" and could stand to miss a couple more lunches. Anyhow it was a good walk in and a good hiding spot. Took a bandana for a lanyard.
Thanks for the hide,
Wheelygood

It impresses me that orienteers find this spot using only the map and compass, with no GPS. To say that the trails along the route Geo G and I took were indistinct would be an overstatement of their quality, but we enjoyed the trip. Left a bear keychain for a carabiner.

Happy to report we found the second Hikers cache of the day. Came from Durand Discovery, but we drove to the closest approach, then bushwhacked. We parked in a wide spot on the road, about .18 mi from the cache, but it seemed like several miles by the time we got there. A neat area, that I'm sure we'd never have seen had it not been for geocaching. Cache is in good shape. Took a bunny and left a couple of toys. That's it for the day!!

Hee Hee!!!!!!!! First ones, baby! Now we have four navicache T shirts. This one gave us a little bit of a work out, but we all managed, even Chi!!! Very beautiful area and a nicely placed cache. We left a new photo album in exchange for the T-shirt.

Thank you for the excellent find!
