Nice short 2 mile round trip hike by the lake 'Bog Meadow Pond'. Steep only in a few spots. great for the whole family

No more nights in the alley is the title of a post card in this cache as a HITCHHIKER. It needs to find it's way to NEW MEXICO. The other HITCHHIKER is 'The Head of Mr. Potato Head's Cousin'. He's needing to get back to SEATTLE. He's in no hurry, he'd like to be propped on the dashboard to see the sights along the way. Both have their individual logue papers, are all packed and ready to travel.
Take this time to see the fall colors in progress. The Lake .....Pond is beautiful!!

As for the booty, there is a Karate necklace,a chain link, a black plactic clip, a Magic thumb that would work better with a new battery and 2 Bronze castings of Pequin Peppers.

Last but not least my pet peeve. I also included a flier called 'Smile you're on Handi-Camera' I slap this note on cars parked in the handicapped zones after I photograph them. Since so many of us have cameras, it could be fun to let people see themselves posted on the internet parked in a Disability parking spot.

Parking at N 41 22.688' and W 074 01.118'. If you want to have a long hike, park one car at N 41 25.028' W 074 01.893' (enter at N 41 25.276' W 074 01.777') and the other cart at the above mentioned spot. This however changes it from 2 miles to several. And from a 'Happy Family' to 'exhausted family' outing. Either way it's a good work out.

It is of Paramount Importance TO TAKE SOMETHING!! It's not stealing, It's free!! What ever you see and you like, TAKE IT!! If nothing else take it and plant it in another cache site.

Happy Trails, Drive Fast and Take Chances, and this time DO pick up a hitchhiker (or two).

Came over from the Dennis Hopper's Hitchiking to New Mexico cache. Along the way, the weather became even sunnier and warmer. Drove past a lot of military camps and bases. Finally reached the trailhead at the given coordinates. The gate was closed but it appears some folks have keys for that and are able to drive in. Walked in on the trail (uphill but an easy walk) past a rather scenic dam and soon reached Bog Meadow Pond about 1 mi in. It was there that I encountered the trails closed sign. It seems that hiking is not allowed in the Black Rock Forest this time of the year because of the hunting season. Fortunately, this cache seems to be just outside the Black Rock Forest boundary so I bushwhacked near the lake to get to the cache site. Good thing I had a blaze orange hat in case a hunter ventured outside the hunting area. Never quite reached the GPS ground zero because while I was exploring the area, I saw a Kernerrific hiding spot from some distance away and that's where the cache turned out to be. Another great box of goodies. Swapped out a Where's George ( dollar bill. Thanks. Was unable to proceed to the Echo site because of the aforementioned hunting season but may try that on another date.
