The cache is located in Harriet Hollister Spencer State Recreation Area, south of Honeoye, NY, at an elevation of about 2200 feet. The area is laced with miles of trails, used for skiing in the winter, and hiking and biking in the summer (watch out for bikes, it's a very popular activity, especially on weekends). There is a parking lot at the entrance that's open all year, but in the summer/fall it's best to drive in and park on the loop where there's picnic tables, toilets, and a shelter (no water, bring your own). Bring a camera, there's a spectacular view of Honeoye Lake from the road in. You'll climb about 100 feet from either parking area to the cache, so it's a moderate bit of exercise. The cache consists of a 30 cal ammo can painted flat black with gray markings. It's in a fairly open wooded area, with light tree cover; I was accessing six satellites at the cache site. Contents include a Teenie Beanie Baby, keychain, a couple of blank CDRs, a tennis ball for the pooch, and other typical odds and ends (a camera will be added later; I forgot to stop and get one), and of course, there's a log book.

What a great cache! We had fun hiking through the woods looking for this cache and almost gave up finding it, when we finally spotted it. The kids were so thrilled that we had found our second cache and our first one with a treasure!
Such a lovely area and the view was just amazing, so glad that we went out for the day!

This was a really nice walk in the woods. The only problem I encountered was lots of snow in places still in the forest. I bushwhacked most of the way to this one and found it after a quick search. The coords were good and the cache is in great shape. It is so fun to do older caches such as this one is. I traded a dollar bill for a little lizard. Thanks for the great cache in such a scenic place. -Paleoman52-

This was a great hide. I have never been here and it looks like a great area to hike. The GPS was jumping all over but motion finally got it to settle down and found the cache. Thanks for the hide and the walk in a beautiful area.

This park has changed a lot since I was last here. Lots of trails. Found the cache with wisewoman, took bear and left a ball of the world. After locating cache got twisted up taking a bike trail out, wound around everywhich away. Nice hide, thanks

My son Evan and I arrived at the park around 5:30 and spent some time admiring the view from the overlook north over Honeoye Lake and all the way to the Rochester skyline. What an incredible "Indian Summer" day. I explained to Evan that it was on this same bench 13 years ago that I had asked his mom to marry me, and it really was just as nice a day then as it was on this day! OK, to be completely honest, the mosquitos drove us away after a quick lunch on that day.
Anyhow, out we headed on the trails to find the cache and after a beautiful walk through the woods(along the trails to within one hundred yards of the cache). Evan spotted the cache while I was staring at the GPS going,"Hey, we're at 0.00!" That's becoming a familiar story with us. Traded a soccer ball cell phone stand and an American flag for the golf balls and a Where's George $$ bill.
I visit this park a few times every winter on cross-country ski trips and have forgotten how beautiful it can be in the early fall also. No bugs and a gorgeous day. Perfect!

My better half found this one at 6:45 PM. We had a bit of trouble getting a good signal but we searched a 25ft circle and found it without too much trouble. The one thing that I really like about this sport is that it introduces you the great areas like this one that you might even have seen before, but never took the time to really explore.
Swapped george dollars and took a $$1,000,000 bill. Left dice and a Cracker Jack prize.

6th of 6 finds today. Wanted to do more, but Donna had had enough. A nice ending to a beautiful day. Nice park and trails. No trouble finding cache. Donna found it right away. At cache, GPS said 0.00 feet to go!!! Glad it was such a clear day. You could see the tall buildings in Rochester on the horizon when looking at the view of Honeoye Lake on the road in. Thanks for the hide and a reason to be there.

Found this while on the "trail" of another. GPS put us within a few feet. Nice area, did a lot of bushwhacking for this one. Took nothing and left nothing.

Found this Feb. 9 while cross country skiing with friends.
They knew nothing about geocaching, so this was their first experience. GPS said we were 25 feet away from the spot
when we found it. There are quite a few downed trees in
the area. The area has features that should be quite pretty in the summer.

I was in the area doing Canadice II, and finding a waypoint for a multipart cache, and decided to do this one. To a bit to find the best place to start. We had met a stray dog, and little later met a lady looking for the dog. As I started for the cache, the dog found me, and started following Issaquah Puppy and me. I ran into a family heading back to the parking lot, and got them to take the dog back out of the woods. I radioed my wife at the car, and she caught the dog. I found the cache, and head back out. We loaded the dog into the car, and were going to drive it to Churchville where his tag said he lived, when we ran into his owner again, and turned him over. Good thing as the Churchville address turned out to be his old address. I took tennis ball for Issaquah Puppy, and left a Yo Yo.

Brother Larry and I decided that it was a nice cool day for a day in the woods. Love this little park, especially the lookout over Honeoye Lake. We headed into the woods and got into the area of the cache, but the sats were not in good position and couldn't get anything better than 50 feet when another direction showed up, so we started out perimeter search. Must have walked by the cache six times before we saw it. It was well hidden with it's gray coloring blending in very well on the forest floor. Left a current National Geographic Magazine and took CD-ROM. Thanks for the hide and good hunting. jpfjmj@earthlink.net John

Another beautiful place that I have not seen before. Geocaching has taken me to so many like this, not too far, but world class in their scenic beauty. I did some bushwacking but most of the hike was on a real nice trail. Your coordinates must be good because I walked right up to the cache without any back and forth searching. The view you talk about in your deccription is something no one will want to miss, so just let me repeart to drive along the road until you come to it or put the coordinates in your GPS. Thank you, left an entry in your log book, took a memory of a place I will want to return to.
