The "Wimbledon Windmill" Geocache is hidden a short walk from The Windmill Museum on Wimbledon Common. It is the usual Lovelock large tupperware box with books and toys for children, calculator, and lots of other low value "goodies". A camera was added on 21 Nov 2001. Take a picture during your walk, but please put the camera back in the cache - and make sure the box is hidden.

The best approach is probably to get on the A219 Wimbledon Park Side road which skirts the eastern edge of the common. Look for the signs to Wimbledon Windmill Museum not far from the hospital. The free carpark near the Windmill is convenient and you should find toilets and refreshments available. This cache will be a little more difficult to find - just trust your GPS :-)

If you are in this part of London, don't miss a visit to visit Richmond Park or Hampton Court - well worth your time.

Many Thanks - I don't think it can still be there, after all these years. We have this on our list of things to do one weekend soon. Only got back from holiday last week. The ones we've checked recently are at the top of our list on www.gpss.co.uk/geocache

This was my first attempt at searching for a Geocache but it was a miserable failure. However, it was a beautifully sunny afternoon, ideal for a walk, to make up for the lack of the cache.

I left the car at the Windmill car park and used the GPS to navigate to the location of the cache. There was a very prickly gorse bush (currently in flower) spot on the specified coordinates. I spent a lot of time searching within and under the bush and getting very scratched. Also poked around with a stick in case the cache was well hidden in the dry grass and heather at the base of the bush but there was nothing there. Rechecked the coordinates but they appeared to be correct. Satellite coverage was also good with the EPE varying between 14 and 20 feet.

Then had a scout around the area in case it had been moved but couldn't find anything. It looks as if this cache might have been trashed.
