Sallie Davis Shelton, 1906-1970. Sallie was my "Granny" and she passed away when I was only 5 years old. She was short, a good cook, and cheated at cards. She was born in Paint Rock, AL, with five siblings. Later she r-u-n-n-o-f-t to marry and moved to Huntsville where she worked in the Dallas cotton mill. She raised ten children and now she rests in Shelton Cemetery. The last time I was at this cemetery was the day they buried her.

Shelton Cemetery is located in Pikeville, AL. It has many graves marked with just rocks. Some have writing that you can't read. I found gravestones dating back to early 1800's, so I assume the old unmarked rocks might date in the 1700's. I came to find the old cemetery today and decided to hide a cache in memory of Sallie. You do not have to tread on the dead to find it, but you might enjoy looking at some old stones....or maybe Sallie and Elbert's headstone.
