You will find it easier and more enoyable if you go over Five Arch Bridge BEFORE you follow the directions from your GPS. You only need find one of the identical clue tickets, and they have been placed in three similar spots to reduce the risk of them all getting lost. Please write down the lat/lon on the ticket, then hide it where it was. The three locations are all similar, being brick objects that you will soon recognize. One is at the lat/lon above, one is 140 metres east of it, and the other 250 metres east of it. Typical places to look are "under steel" - for a magnetic ticket, "behind grass" - against the brickwork, or "in a crack" - look for a wire or tab poking out. But remember - you only need to find one of them. You put this ticket lat/lon into your GPS, remember what it said on the ticket as a clue, and continue your walk to find the cache itself.

The cache is the usual tupperware box, with goodies, logbook, instant camera, etc - but in a black back with string at the top. It is placed in a dry spot, so please keep it dry - use an umbrella if rain threatens.

Virginia Water has a large lake, perhaps two miles across, but many more miles around it. If you choose to take a stroll, allow two or three hours for all the lake. There are a few more caches in this area, so you could take a picnik and take all day - but choose good weather. You might follow the lake east to "The Wheatsheaf". After "refreshments" there, make your way back for more at "The Belvedere" :-) On the way to the Wheatsheaf, if south of the lake, you will pass landmarks such as the "Ruins" and then the "Cascade" (waterfall). The Totem Pole is north, past The Wheatsheaf. Five Arch Bridge is in the west - not far from Blacknest Gate - just north of The Belvedere Pub - briefly named the Robin Pub.

Walked from Tweetie Pie, round the north side of the lake, on what was by now a very pleasant winter's day. I bypassed the "Valley Gardens" cache, intending to visit it on the return journey.

The path from the bridge to where the "tickets" are hidden was pretty boggy in places. It's a part of Virginia Water I've never visited before - up to now, my circumnavigations of the lake have crossed the bridge and missed out this little spur.

I looked for, and quickly found, the nearest and most easterly ticket, then continued to the hiding place of the well concealed (but obvious to a cacher) cache. No forestry work today, so no problems recovering the cache.

Caching again with Sandvika and his kids, we came back to wrap up this cache as we had done the hard work before, thought we might get a FTF but someone else got there first. TFTC

Had found a clue ticket (the furthest away one I think )for this one a few weeks ago whilst doing another series around Virginia Water, but could not get close to GZ due to a tree felling work going on at the time.
Was in the area again today and decided to try again. A nice straight forward find with cache in excellent condition. Still can't quite believe I was FTF

Caching again with Heffalump007, we came to wrap up this cache and would you believe it, we were not the first to find the new cache, having been pipped at the post earlier in the day. "Penguin" (formerly "Clomod") and youngest member of team Sandvika was the one who found the cache. Heffalump007 and Arkanoid (dad) were looking in the wrong place completely.

Took a toy car and a marble, left a mini water pistol and a beanie head.

Late afternoon dash with Heffalump007 in the pouring rain. Unfortunately, we had left it too late and though we found a clue ticket at the third and furthest place from the published coords (the second place being completely under water) it was already after dusk. The combination of mud, rain, darkness and youngest son feeling the call of nature made a subsequent return the more expedient choice! TFTH, Sandvika.

After some pleasant "recce" walks in recent days, Robin replaced the cache and clue tickets in different spots and updated the page. Who will be first to find the new cache ? :-)

to the chap who 'phoned me after finding the clue ticket: sorry that the lat/lon on the ticket was wrong - I'll come and change those tickets soon. Meanwhile, anyone who phones me on 01344 620775 from that spot will be given the correct location. Hope you enjoyed your walk :-)
