Robin was with Team Sapper, visiting the UK. As we started our walk from Blacknest Gate, Steve found a digital camera which lay on the path. It must have been at least 10 minutes later that a young man asked us if we'd found a camera - what's the chances of that ? He was delighted when Steve gave it to him, but he was so occupied with using it, and listening to his Walkman - that he was nearly knocked down by two cars. That would have delayed our walk some more :-)

Found with no problems cache in good condition think the bag helps, it tried to rain whilst going to and from the cache area. I parked up near Blacknest gate. TFTC

The third NaviCache of the day, on my way back from "Virginia Water" and on the way to "The Obelisk".

As Sandvika mentioned, the location was obvious from some way off, and though it was a lovely day today, the park was very quiet. There was no-one in sight anywhere as I recovered the cache (and was I grateful for my stout walking boots :-) ).

So far three caches that have been very much easier than the average of previous R&JL caches I've done.

A quick cup of coffee from my flask, and on my way to the next one :-) .

Cycling around the lake and caching with my sons today. The thaw has well and truly set in and we got very muddy.

The cache was exactly where I expected it to be and even though the Blacknest Gate area had resembled the M25 with a sea of people visiting on the first mild day in a while, it was more quiet at the cache and we found and replaced the cache during a gap in the muggles.

The cache container looks familiar, I think Robin has the same supplier as us :D

Took a tine whoopie cushion, left some highlighter pens. Cache all fine and dry. Thanks a lot, Sandvika. NC#21, Total#687

Caching with Heffalump007. Got close to GZ however there was a gardener raking leaves and putting them on a fire barely 50 feet away, so though the likely hiding place was spotted, this will have to wait for another opportunity to be found.

Robin, June, Michelle, and Hammond-Hamster replaced the cache box with a new one, including with a new, dry log book. This was after checking Tweety-Pie, a nice walk away, and where we took some piccys to upload soon. Thanks for telling us about this one getting wet, and sorry it took a while to get round to replacing it.

Thanks Folks. Last Saturday June and I replaced the Windsor Castle cache but it looks as if all we will need to do for this one - much closer to us - is to bring a new dry box with logbook and perhaps printout of earlier log entries. We may be able to move most of the other contents from the old box across. Many Thanks again and happy geocaching.

Had a look for this whilst cycling around Virginia Water doing another cache series.
Found the "slippery when wet" bit, but it looks like the cache has been dislodged from its hidey hole at some point, and rolled into the ditch.
When retreived from ditch it looked (and smelled) like its been in the water for good few weeks (months?) as the container was full up with black water.
Emptied it all out and tried drying everthing out in the sunshine.
Unfortunately the log book was a goner (solid slimey mass),
probably the camera as well.
Tucked the cache further up into its hiding place and jammed in using some dead branches to make it more secure

  Drying out in the Sun

Robin replaced the missing geocache today. The winter is certainly a good time to choose a good spot to hide a cache. The thicker vegetation at other times of the year can lull one into a false sense of security. I wonder how many caches are discovered by accident in the winter ? Anyway, after walking all around the area, within 1/2 mile of the old spot, eventually the new spot was found, much better than the old - even if you need to walk 80 metres to sit down on the original old seat. I'm sure you will find somewhere else to sit, to look at the cache contents including the log book, with attracting too much attention :-)
