The large tupperware box is hidden within a short distance of "The Copper Horse" statue, which stands on the hill at the end of "The Long Walk" tree lined path from Windsor Castle. The location above takes you direct to the cache - you will need to reach up high. The nearest car parking is Bishopsgate, reached by taking signs for Saville Gardens from the A30. Keep on past Saville Gardens, past three pubs, the last of which is "The Fox and Hounds", until you reach the white gates of Bishopsgate.
You then have about twenty minutes walk through the park, with good views of Windsor Castle, between and over the trees. Contents of the cache are too numerous to mention, but include a camera, and something to please everyone - if your expectations are not too high :-)
If you like walking, you can walk through the park to Virginia Water Royal Lake and the geocache there. |

Open Log: Non-commercial use only Out with Orti on a caching trip in Windsor Great park. Good that I am rather tall, Orti would have had a bit of a problem to reach it. Left her to sign the book for us. TFTC

This cache was remarkable in two respects. Firstly that a hiding place in such a prominent place was found for such a large cache. And secondly that despite GZ being exposed to view from miles around, there wasn't another soul in sight, even on what was a very pleasant February day. Recovering the cache therefore proved very straightforward, whereas I can see on another day it might be difficult to get a clear run at it.

Open Log: Unrestricted June and I dropped in the dried out old log book, for those who want to read ancient history back to 2001 :-) We then grabbed a snack at Valley Gardens car park, before walking to the Totem Pole and finding Sandvika's ammo box at the Centiniel Totem Pole cache.

Open Log: Unrestricted June and I visited the cache with snow still on the ground, but with bright sunshine so you got a really good view from the Copper Horse, just a few minutes walk away. Was really easy to see Wembly Stadium ! :-) We started by finding the cache - well hidden this time - many thanks. I popped in a new log book, plus printouts of navicache logs dating back to 2001. I wrote a summary of visits with dates near the front. Hopefully this new log book will stay dry. We took the old book away - very carefully - to try drying it out at home, before returning it for those who want to see the original paper log entries. June took one piccy (with her phone) of me dropping the new log book into the cache, then I took one of her near the Copper Horse - but not enough space here for both. | |

Caching with team Sandvika and Heffalump007. Parked up at parking area off Sheep Street Road and walked the mile to the Copper Horse. It was dusk when we arrived and fortunately, the search for the cache was quite brief - it was just about visible.

Went searching for this whilst doing another series from the other website. A cache this size makes quite a difference from the usual micros. Found cachebox was slightly damaged on corner and contents were quite damp (especially the log book)

Open Log: Unrestricted Many Thanks for doing this, and logging your find. I think that was an old clue ticket originally tucked in a root of a tree within sight of the Copper Horse - that was YEARS ago when the cache was more difficult and you had to find the clue ticket first. The lat/lon at the top of this page should now take you to where you went based on the old ticket. It's been like that for years. Problem is that, although you have to reach up high to the spot, it's quite difficult to hide subtely. Also it's a spot attractive to little hands, if they can get up that far :-)

Open Log: Personal use only Whilst looking for another (geocaching.com) cache, we found a clue for this cache by chance at 51° 26.760' N 0° 36.622' W: it had fallen onto the ground, so we replaced it out of sight. We visited the cache out of curiosity and found it in plain view. We put an entry in the log book and replaced the cache with a bit of camouflage to protect it from muggles. Hope this was the right thing to do!

Open Log: Unrestricted June and I visited this cache on Saturday, after dropping off a travel bug in Tony and Bonnies Cranbourne cache (on www.geocaching.com). As we approached the spot were were suprised to see the cache on the ground - but in OK condition - other than quite a lot of water that had crept into the box. I mopped up the water with a handkerchief before we wrote in the log book - which was well protected in a plastic bag. Took another photo - this time of June and me :-) It was nice to see several "accidental finders" had entered into the spirit of the game and written in the log book, after the visit by Stuart and I last year. We made sure we put the box back in it's original position, hidden as best we could. I've adjusted the lat/lon to make this cache easier than it was. No need for a clue ticket, etc. You just go direct to the position and look in the obvious place. You may need long arms :-)

Open Log: Unrestricted Robin (cache planter) with friend Stuart, had a nice long walk with a diversion to the Post Office in "The Village" intending to have a cuppa - only to find it closed until 1500 (it was then 1440). Saw big herds of deer in rut and a lovely view from Copper Horse. Robin thought he could see London Eye but Stuart said it was new Wembly Stadium. Found cache at 1530 on Thursday 12th October. Robin cannot believe cache was in such good condition - over 5 years from when planted. Lots of "accidental" finds recorded in the log book. Took a photo of both of them with the instant camera. Took nothing and left nothing. Wrote up details in the log book. Continued the long walk back to the car parked in Watersplash Lane. Stopped at a nice pub on the way home. Checked mext day on google earth and saw that these two old boys of 59 and 69 had walked 7.25 miles ! :-)
